Hello there! Welcome to the site. There's plenty of love and support here...

Sounds like you've been through some terrible stuff :( any ideas when she'll be out?

Thank you, after speaking to the rehab doctor it could be quite a while yet. We have to take things a day at a time. As long as there are improvements then it will be worth the wait.

Hello Bazza and welcome !

You have come to a good place and, whilst you're waiting for your lovely Yvonne to return to you, please stay among us for support and companionship.

This forum has been a massive help to me since my brain haemorrhage and to so many others with a wide variety of issues. Talk freely whenever you're ready. Look forward to seeing you around.

Regards, Cat x

Hi and welcome. You will find loads of support here from the members and it's a great place to just say what you feel. Can I suggest that you also look for your local Carers Centre or service. If you go to the Carers Trust website you can find your local one. They look after you as your wife's unpaid Carer and can provide practical and emotional support, mine have been really helpful as well as Headway. Patience is the hardest thing to manage but I have learnt that head injuries take their own time to recover so it is a case of waiting and enjoying every tiny step forward. Take care. X

Hi Bazza and welcome. I got a lot I support from this community too when my dad suffered a severe hypoxic brain injury and spent nearly 4 months in hospital, about 2 1/2 of which were on a strokes/neuro rehab ward. How is she? How are you? Best wishes, DD

Hi Bazza and welcome to the site.

You can always post up on here and get responses from people with their own personal experiences.

In my case it is my son who was ill.

What I love is that you can say exactly how you feel and can be completely honest and in return you will get honesty and understanding.

I look forward to hearing more about Yvonne and youself.

You look after yourself as well as your wife

Take care

Alice

Hi Bazza,

Welcome to the forum (wasn't that a Frankie Howard line from Up Pompei).

I'm so sorry to hear about your wife's stroke and truely hope her progress rate speed up as she gets better.

I've had lots of support, not just support, day to day chatter and humour with people that actually understand what the day to day issues can be for both the carer and the patient.

It can often be harder for the carer than the patient. I know my wife struggles coping with my problems, sometimes angry, she sometimes feels guilty when she's expected too much fom me despite there being no need, its normal, but more often she is so supportive, even rmore so since she came into first part of my neuropsychology assesment, because the neuropsych has more time than the consults and doctors to more clearly explain the issues I have and will have.

It's really early days for you both at the moment and part of the acceptance thing is realising that any BI can be slow in recovery, especially in the early stages. You'll both have good and bad days but stay strong, you will learn new strategies for coping from many here.

My best wishes to you both.

Sporan

Hi both and welcome.

As a carer, I understand some of the feelings you are going through at the moment.

Feel free to post anything here, someone will always do their best to help.

Let's hope your wife continues to recover, but remember to take care of yourself as well x

Hello there Bazza

My love to both you and Yvonne.

Please stay in touch and as others have said we are here for each other. Brain injury survivors and those angels who care for us learn from each other.

There seems to be always someone to offer advice or support and although some of us may not be on 24/7 we do reply when we can.

Lots of love n hugs to you both

Thanks for all the good wishes and welcomes to the community, I would like to reply to each and every comment but time does not allow me to do this. I have however read them all and feel that this is a place where I can gain support and maybe as time goes on provide support for others.

I have noticed that as people come and go from the hospital ward where Yvonne is we all help each other in some way, either by being there to talk to or just making those small encouraging comments when we notice changes in someone. These small things help us through the days. I am sure this community will also provide this much needed support :)
