I did see your post, obvioulsy it was emailed to me, but I deliberately did not reply cos I hate smart arses haha, kidding. You are right though, Hugh Laurie, or as I like to call him 'Huge Lorry' is correct :).

I knew who it was Matt but the words/name didn't come to me.Good pic!.

I'm terrible like that finding the words. I keep talking to my mum about when she watches Blenheim Palace on tv lol...or i call it that upstairs downstairs thingy. You know what programme i mean?

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

Thanks Karen :) and I know what you mean about not finding the right words, I have no idea what programme you mean though haha, I think.

Are you talking about Downton Abbey? Also known as Downtown Abbey, which reminds me of Petula Clark's hit 'Downtown' :).

in reply to Matt2584

Yes that's the one lol ha ha

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

Ah, it was Downton Abbey. I wasn't 100% sure cos you were saying "The upstairs, downstairs one" and I was thinking "Is that hte show called 'Upstairs downstairs" haha.

Some members of my family talk like this also, I am used to it haha.

Hugh Laurie AKA Huge Lorry, is the caricature :).

Looks like/reminds me of Jeremy Thorpe. ?

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

I can see where you are coming from with Jeremy Thorpe, it is not him though.

Personally I did not even know who Jeremy Thorpe was until I googled him :).

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to Matt2584

Hugh Laurie AKA Huge Lorry is the answer.

in reply to Matt2584

Sorry Matt you're too young to remember/know about Thorpe, great pic though - you are VERY talented, well done. If I watched TV (not had for 8 months and other times) I'd know but don't know who hardly anyone ('celebrities') are now, SO left out and left behind. Not sure if I'm missing much though, many celebrities actually useful!?

Thanks :).

I don't watch much TV now, there is a lot of rubbish on TV now. I mostly use the TV to watch the challenge TV channel but even that is for a few minutes. If I watch TV shows then I might watch it on catch up TV like the BBCiplayer or ITVplayer. Hugh Laurie is from a TV show called 'House' but I prefer him in Blackadder, he was funny in that.

in reply to Matt2584

Ah, not seen House but remember bits of Blackadder!

Had a thought about Hugh Laurie but then thought Tony Blair? It's the unshaven bit that throws me and not sure of the tall thin daft one from Blackadder (no NOT Baldric, he's like me short an thick. I personnally think it's the lack of hieght that makes me look thick :-)).

But great picture all sthe same.

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to sporan

If you intially stayed with Hugh Laurie AKA Huge Lorry, you would be correct. Then you steered off to Tony Blair, ick, how could you! Haha.

Hugh Laurie plays quite a serious part in 'House', judging by the adverts anyhow. I liked him in series three of Blackadder, I thought he was brilliant.

Thanks anyway :).

Your welcome Matt..... hang on that's a bit of a whats it, isn't it?

The sketch was brilliant and I should have stuck with my first choice, especially as I now remember it was Hughe Laurie that played the tall softie in Black Adder.

Just got to wait for yooze next installment now to makemyself look even stupidier than I already does lol :-)

PS Wig still not showing under that John Cleese hat! Oh and the rest of the staff from the ministry of silly walks send their regards ;-) . Your probably to young to remember so will have to google Monty Pythons Flying Circus! He also wore similar hat in a David Frost satirical sketch about upper, middle and lower classes and also very early introduction of Ronnies Corbett and Barker to British television.

I have heard of the ministary of silly walks and probably seen a little bit of it. My Dad is a Monty Python fan and my bro got tickets for me and my Dad and bro to see Monty Python Live at the O2 arena in London. I vaguely remembered some of their sketches but it was funny.

sporan profile image
sporan in reply to Matt2584

I heard not very flattering reviews of the O2 show but if found that funny the original shows will have cracked you up. I don't know which sketches they re-created at the O2 but sure they included some of the best.

The Frost Report, I think it was called, is also very funny and heavy in satire introducing many comic characters that later became household names.

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to sporan

I heard of some mixed reviews before I went. I expect people who had watched the TV shows thought that the live production was not as good but for me who hasn't seen their shows, I thought seeing it live wasn't too bad.

They did a mix of coming out on stage and performing and there was a big TV in the background which showed some sketches from the shows. As I said before, I vaguely remember some of it, most probably when my Dad used to watch them.

I think they did the Frost report, that might have been near the beginning of the show. I forget. I have seen quite a few shows before in theatres and O2 but usually when I see them once, I forget most of what I just saw :).

sporan profile image
sporan in reply to Matt2584

Well that's goog if you forget because you can go and watch same show againg and it will still fresh.

Must save a fortune on videos, I know I've saved a few bob an books..... although I have to say the first three pages of the single book (well I think it's single... perhaps it's just co-habiting cause I don't remember the wedding) I've been reading for the last two years are beginning to get a bit thin, but they are just as good a read as the first time I read them... well I think I read them. Damb, now I got to start again lol ;-) .

Matt2584 in reply to sporan

I don't normally forget the whole show, when it comes to musicals at the theatre or pantomimes but my mind kind of blacks out some parts and I only remember some parts that stick out, like a very funny part maybe.

As good as musicals are, I do find the ambience can be a bit much sometimes, mainly in the way that it could sound pretty loud to me and I wouldn't hear what was said or sung :).

Thanks abico :). I will admit though that this caricature, and most of my other caricatures which I will post, were copied from the internet. I find pictures I like on the net, caricature or regular picture, and draw it.

Thanks all the same though :).
