Celebrate good times, come on.

I feel like celebrating in some ways. In my right ear, I had a lot of wax that the nurse at my local surgery said was in deep. Sorry to bring this up but I have been slightly deaf in my right ear for ages. I think that the reason for poor build up of wax in the right ear is because of my slight right-sided paralisys. Anyway, I ordered a syringe from Amazon, it arrived today and after the first few uses, no joy. But I just had a bath and used it there and I think I got all or most of it out! Wham, bam, thank you ma'am :).

To celebrate, TAGGED STORY TIME!

SURGERY, DEAF, SYRINGE, WAX, EAR

"The other day I had SURGERY on my ear, I think I had something blocking the ear canal but don't know what it was and it was sore and making me partially DEAF. I tried using a SYRINGE because I thought it might be WAX but I was wrong. It wasn't wax at all, it was a Spider that must have crawled into my EAR while I was asleep. The end".

Wow. Luckily it wasn't a poisonous one!

Sorry if my little story confused you, Nutkin. None of that actually happened. That was one of my tagged stories where I make a story from the tagged words at the ends of original posts :).

It's me being creative and kind of weird at the same time :).

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

When I was using Yahoo! Chat, years ago, there was a vomiting smiley and I think it was :-8 or (-8. I dunno if that is the same procedure on here though.

cat3 in reply to Matt2584

Will this do . . . . :p . . . . . ??

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to cat3

I just had a thought, :-8 these symbols remind me of the Ball-chinnians from the film Men In Black.

A race of extra terrestrials with testicals on there chins. Extra testicals, if you like :).

They were created for the movie, it wasn't from my warped mind haha.

Cat, the smiley with the tongue sticking out :p is usually used if somebody says something funny or idiotic.

I think it probably is the nearest thing to vomiting though.

Maybe if you want to show you are vomitting you could show the :p face and type "blehurge!" next to it haha.

in reply to cat3

Na 'fraid not he looks too happy - drunk maybe :P

Oh and the amount of wax that gathers in hearing aids

In my last job the best part of the morning was sprent taking them out dismantling and putting back in again oh and cleaning dentures sometimes there would be 8-10 sets of top and bottom gnashers to clean LOL!

That sounds like a very inviting job, Emma haha. Could you see the sarcasm in that comment?

Broken_Doll profile image

Hahaha Matt :-D

Do you remember stoppit and tidyup the cartoon

Lol in the theme tune there was a monster called clean yer teeth and then obvs the big bad I said no! Lol made me think of that!

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to Broken_Doll

I didn't watch Stoppit and tidyup, I might have been a little too young or I was watching Rainbow haha.

I looked for a video of it on YouTube though, I vaguely remember it, not very well though.

I can see the reference though between talking about cleaning dentires and thinking of the monster called 'clean yer teeth' :).

in reply to Broken_Doll

THAT IS TRULY GROSS.

Absolute yuk! :o But glad it's helped your hearing Matt

I am DISCOMBOBULATED now. Word of the week :)!

I said to Emma "I bet you wish you could wash your eyes out with soap?", she said "Yup".

Then hedgehog said "Which are now defrosted"

Emma's eyes have defrosted? We're they frozen then?

Na you're ok Matt, I was kidding!

Had infection control training today at work, a patient's room (vacant I hasten to add :o ) was deliberately set up with health risks for us to identify.

The 'chocolate' smeared on the commode seat was gross and I joked that will put me off chocolate for a while!

Well until tonight anyway ;)

in reply to

HOW YOU & EMMA DO WHAT YOU DO IS TRULY AMAZING,

I WENT TO HOSPITAL WITH A FRIEND OF MINE LAST WEEK & SHE WANTED ME TO INTO THE ROOM WITH HER FOR MORAL SUPPORT.

I HAD TO WATCH HER HAVING A CANNULA PUT IN.

I DID MANAGE TO AVOID COLLAPSING ON THE FLOOR BUT ONLY JUST.

MOST UNPLEASANT!

ZEB that's kind of you to say so :)

Another new word to research 'cannula' :D.

So how does it go? "A, B, C, D... Well done" :). I'm making progress :).

in reply to Matt2584

DON'T RELY ON MY SPELLING OF CANNULA.

IF I'VE MUCKED IT UP SOMEONE LET ME KNOW!!

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

Where did my other reply go that was saying Zeb spelled Cannula correct?

It is also spelled Canula but I was just thinking, you didn't accidentally mis spell canola did you? Haha.

in reply to

Aah bless you Zeb

I think when you have had children and animals, you get a stronger stomach :o

But we are all different, and all have different strengths.

in reply to

I HAD A DIABETIC CAT WITH KIDNEY FAILURE ONCE & DID EVERYTHING FROM INJECTING INSULIN, GIVING DROPS, PILLS,SYRINGEING LIQUID MED IN TO HIS MOUTH ETC ETC

EVERYTHING EXCEPT SUPPOSITORIES, THANK GOD HE DIDN'T NEED THOSE!

DON'Y KNOW WHY I'M SQUEMISH NOW!!

in reply to

I fostered a diabetic cat once Zeb.

I hated giving the injections, she was so patient as the vet was teaching me how to do it.

First 3 attempts into the scruff of the neck and the water (practising so not insulin) went straight out the other side of the neck! :o

I felt awful having to keep injecting the poor cat but I had to learn how to do it!

Matt2584 profile image

And you call that an honour haha.

in reply to Broken_Doll

HAVE YOU DEALT WITH BIs IN TRAUMA? THAT WOULD BE IRONIC

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

Quite ironic indeed.

I used to know somebody at one of my other disabled groups I went to who had Huntington's disease, similar to Parkinson's.

This lady used to be a carer and ask then, she was being cared for instead.

Very sad, and in the end she had to stay in a care home because the disease got worse.

I think she has passed now :(. Big shame.

Broken_Doll profile image
Broken_Doll in reply to Matt2584

Matt that Is sad :(

In my last job I used to rehab a lot of strokes/Parkinson's etc

Very sad indeed

Broken_Doll profile image
Broken_Doll in reply to

ZEBLET i haven't dealt with head trauma in the acute setting per se but I have looked after people once they have been admitted

I've helped take staples out and dressings etc

Also had patients who were frail fall in whilst in hospital so we'd have to patch them up!

I SUFER FROM THIS FROM TIME TO TIME. GP SAID PUTTING A FEW DROPS OF OLIVE OIL IN YOUR EAR 2-3 TIMES A DAY FOR 2-3 DAYS BEFORE YOU SYRINGE IT THEN USE WARM WATER TO SYRINGE IT.

SOFTENS EVERYTHING UP & HELPS PREVENTS POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO INNER EAR & EAR DRUM. KEEP DOING IT UNTIL EAR IS REALLY CLEAR..

IT'S A PRETTY YUKKY THING TO HAVE TO DO BUT IFIND IT EASIER TO DO IT AT HOME RATHER THAN GO TO THE NURSE.

ONCE IT'S DONE EVERYBODY SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE SHOUTING DON'T THEY. THE DIFFERENCE IS AMAZING!

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

My left ear was fine, it has been fine for ages but it's the right ear that gives me grief.

I have had the left block up once or twice and I've had a few trips to the doctors surgery to get right ear unblocked.

Last time I went to get right ear unblocked, they got most of it out but the nurse said there was more deep inside that the machine could not get out. They ended up using the whole tank on one ear with no joy!

Better to do it at home. You can use olive oil, or any oil really so I have been told. I was using coconut oil. I normally have a coconut oil bath and I was springing my ears in the bath, best place to do it I think :).

You can also use salt water to soften the wax, it's called a saline solution. I used some of that too, that is oretty good.

in reply to Matt2584

GOOD IDEAS & COCONUT OIL SMELLS MUCH NICER THAN OLIVE OIL!

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

The coconut oil I use doesn't have much of a scent to it but still better than olive oil I think.

With the oils, you can usually hear/feel the wax breaking up in your ear or moving around. When I put the saline solution in my ear, I could hear vast movement right away :).

I try to avoid cotton buds more now, they can push wax in the ear if you aren't careful.

in reply to Matt2584

NO I WOULD NEVER USE COTTON BUDS IN CASE I DID SOME DAMAGE.

I HAD A DIABETIC CAT WHO NEEDED SOME MEDECINE THROUGH SYRINGES SO I HAVE A LOAD STILL IN THEIR SEALED PAKAGES & THEY WORK WELL.

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

I didn't realise cats could get diabetes. Learn something new each day :).

My nan told me about a friend of hers who had a lump in her cheek once. After tests, doctors found it was the bud from the cotton bud!

OOOOH NASTY!

IT'S STRANGE THAT I HAVE FOUND I'M SQUMISH ABOUT THESE THINGS BUT I CAN WATCH ANY THING ABOUT BRAIN SURGERY PROCEDURES ON TELLY.

I THINK THAT AS MY BRAIN IS BROKEN I'M REALLY INTERESTED IN ANYTHING TO DO WITH BRAINS

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

It is Interesting to see these operations and things on the brain. Did you watch that show Brain Hospital. I saw a couple of episode, it was good.

I found now that my brain has been damaged I am more interested in zombies haha.

"BRAINS".

in reply to Matt2584

YES I DID, IT WAS REALLY GOOD.

NOTHING LIKE A GOOD ZOMBIE BUT I'M TOO SCARED TO WATCH ZOMBIE FILMS ETC

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

Zombie movies/TV shows are not for everybody. For me there is something compelling about them haha.

'28 days later' was a good film. '28 weeks later' was also good. But if they made a third '28 months later' or even '28 years later', I wouldn't watch them.

It would be too pathetic for me and in 28 months I would think the world would be pretty scarce of zombies and 28 years later.

You would end up having a film of moving skeletons.

I think a bit too much sometimes :).

I remember when I was younger and I was watching a movie with my older brother called 'Cannibal holocaust'.

There was one scene where this tribe were eating a turtle and you saw all it's guts.

At the time I was eating a Jelly Invaders yogurt, remember those? They were nice.

That was a bit random wasn't it :).

Sorry if I made you queasy haha.

in reply to Matt2584

YUK.

THERE IS A VERY GOOD DEATH METAL BAND CALLED CANNIBAL CORPSE, THINK I'LL STICK TO THEM...

Matt2584 profile image

Broken_Doll profile image
Broken_Doll in reply to

Hedgehog Hahaha I repeat myself in real life so at least something's accurate haha!

in reply to Broken_Doll

Me too. My daughter says, you told me that, I argue I dont think I have, then she tells me what I was going to tell her. And I sulk, oh guess I had then :)

Matt2584 profile image
Matt2584 in reply to

I don't usually repeat myself but there are two guys at my local Headway drop-in who repeat themselves all the time. I know it cannot be helped so I don't mind it but one of the guys is terrible at repeating himself.

Every week he will tell you the same stories. I just act incredibly sarcastic with him haha. This guy can talk for Britain and he'll see the funny side of almost everything.

One time he told me his relative had died. I said "Sorry to hear that" and he said "Don't be, that's brilliant! She left me so much money" haha.
