Hi laila.

It really depends on the age you were diagnosed. I have learned that the older you are the longer it takes for the villi to recover. In my case it took nearly 2 years to really feel a lot better. But now there would be no turning back. I am sure others can contribute more.

It took nearly 3 years for my villi to heal. Have you checked with your GP if your iron levels or B12 is low, this can make you feel tired and drained. I have iron deficincy anemia and I have to take iron tablets.

Might be worth you getting a general test for other food allergens as sometimes these can present themselves with similar symptoms. I found I was getting similar symptoms and was allergic to milk.

There could be other causes though, may be worth trialling a low risk diet (i.e. avoiding processed foods) and see if you find an improvement - could be that you are consuming foods which although labelled GF contain low levels of gluten to which you are reacting. Some coeliacs though still experience ongoing symptoms even after going GF.

Would suggest you get your GP to refer you to a dietician, allergy specialist and gastro specialist to try to help bottom this out.

it took me @ least 2 years & believe me it was worth the wait....but do make sure you have had all the tests you need to be sure there is nothing else going on & make sure you are not accidentally glutening yourself with a sneaky ingredient or cross contamination....goodluck
