Malabsorbtion of vitamins drugs etc.

Helllo there,I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I have issues with malabsorbtion, chronic fatigue and balance problems. I also have severe depresion and after discussions with several mental health workers therapy was dismissed due to malabsorbtion and not wanting to cause more damage by waking up bad childhood (delt with). I have lost my job and am facing a dismal furure of ill health and poverty. I am having problems being heard, I have been refused a pension, ESA and credit card protection insurance because therapy is not in my best interests.

Does anyone else have problems with this?

Does anyone have any better way, information on proving this to help me please?

I am desperate to get well. I am also dyslexic so excuse mstakes :)

Hi Vince, Firstly - have you been to the Citizen's Advice to discuss your situation? They should be able to contact the Employment and Support Allowance and confidentially go through your financial situation with a view to finding solutions. There should be a Citizen's Advice Office near to where you live. If you do not know the whereabouts and haven't spoken to them then try checking them out here (if you arrange an appointment with them, it would be best to make notes of all of your concerns and also take a copy of the bills and current outgoings to show them):

I have never heard of anyone taking out credit card protection insurance - isn't this similar to PPI? Take a look at Martin Lewis on Money Saving Expert (scroll down the list and check out the suggestions). If you are still in doubt then discuss this also with Citizen's Advice:

Regarding the malabsorption, chronic fatigue and balance problems, have you seen both your doctor and dietician recently? If not, then this would be the best thing to do - write a list of everything that you feel you are suffering from. Ask if they would check your vitamin and mineral levels as when these are low it will affect how you feel and your symptoms. At the same time if you haven't already done so, ask what prescription foods you are entitled to free of charge:

The balance problems may be being caused by Ataxia (Gluten Ataxia)

I have also just left coeliac uk as I found I wasn't using it and wonder if I should drop eating the non gluten free gluten free food I may be a sensitive soul. I am on a waiting list to see a dietitian I don't know how long it takes here, just moved.

Vince - have you got a local neighbourhood legal centre you could visit? If not I recommend calling and having some free consultations with some good employment lawyers. It will be stressful but they can work wonders and allow you to come to a good settlement with your company and move on. I have had friends in a similar situation and now they are ok. If the therapy route is holding back other choices to you - is there a way you could take it up and simply use it to get support thru your current situation vs diving back to the past which you are keen to avoid. It sounds as if your issues are due to environmental factors. It is good you have a visit to the dietitian in the pipeline. Personally for me I have always avoided malt barley, malt vinegar, codex wheat starch, food made on a line with gluten, oats, non gluten containing labelled ingredients which has helped me to avoid many of the pitfalls other coeliacs have with these. You may want to try this for a week and see if it helps lift your mood.
