Hi jajk - well done you for having such good stocks of this product. It was discontinued from production last year. I queried it at the time with Kallo Foods and this is the detail of the mails. You can try requesting it be brought back if you want.

I tend to use Kallo stock cubes now and cornflour. Not as convenient but tastes good.

I have tried to purchase Just Bouillon Gravy Granules in both your Mill Hill and Brent Cross stores but this product was not available. Usually Waitrose is the only place I can source this.

Just Bouillon also do stock cubes and stock powder. The gravy granules are the ONLY Gluten Free instant gravy granules available and to struggle to find them at this time of year is very disappointing.

Please could you advise why they are no longer on display? I did ask in both the stores but the staff I questioned didn't know. If it is the case that you are thinking of discontinuing this product then can I ask that you please think again.

Dear Hayley

Thanks for your quick response. This however is very very disappointing. There is no competition in the market for gluten free instant gravy, in theory you should have a ready market. When first diagnosed I mistakenly bought a Just Bouillon powder in a tub, thinking it was equivalent to Bisto instant. It was very unpleasant. To then find your gravy granules was a great lift. The free from, gluten free market product can sometimes be without taste, very expensive and high in all the unpleasant ingredients that you wouldn't normally eat.

Thanks for the recipes. I also use your stock cubes and am sure that the gravy will taste delicious but we are all time poor and the ability to keep a pot of the gravy granules on hand was a big benefit.

Is there any chance this deletion can be rethought? I'd have thought that with a small promotional outlay you would soon get the Coeliac customer making purchases. I came across this product by chance. It was stocked with the main gravies, and it was only by reading the label thoroughly that I realised it was gluten free.

It is regrettable that the demand for this product was not enough to continue to justify the cost of production. We can certainly appreciate how disappointing this is for the consumers that enjoyed the product and I would like to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly.

No longer made, try goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-lo... for alternatives or Anthony Worrell Thomson's gravy granules (from Sainsbury) - contains dextrose derived from wheat, but some people are OK with this. Do not have if wheat-based dextrose causes a problem.

Hi meanioni, I must have crossed with your post as I just put up detail on Kallo discontinuing the product I tried the AWT gravy granules but thought they were grim. Too salty and a really strong herby flavour which overpowered everything. Stock cube and cornflour produces a good result.

Hi SillyYak. Massive thank you for your response.Yes, I think I did have a good stock pile thanks to my mum!! I will certainly be contacting Kallo. Very sad to hear this product has been discontinued. My son cannot have gluten or wheat but to make things even more difficult he is anaphylactic to Dairy (milk protien), Eggs, Nuts and Peanuts. So usually a product is free of some but not the others! Oh well! Will try to find any Anthony Worrell Thompsons products but our branches stopped selling them! thanks again, JAJK x

You're welcome I did try to point out to Kallo that they we missing a trick as they didn't promote the 'gluten free' on the product. I also contacted Waitrose (who were my main supplier). I also told them there is a shortage of a good tasting, gf instant gravy like Kallo and asked them to consider making their own mainstream instant gravy and making it gf. They said they would pass my suggestion to own brand team. Nothing appearing on the shelves yet so I'm sticking to stock cube and cornflour.

Kallo have just introduced new gravy granules, saykallo.com/products/stock... I am impressed that they have mentioned that the maltodextrin in the ingredients list is made from potato.

The gravy is in sachets, I wrote to their customer services enquiring whether they would be manufacturing them in jars as this would be far more convenient, perhaps if more of us write they might consider making it in jars, their email address is [e-mail]

I cant see anything in the ingredients that would cause any issues however they don’t seem to say that they are gluten free

Great spot tmoxon. Kallo seem to have just launched these sachets.... Here's what the press say:

Kallo Stock Pots are rolling into Tesco and The Co-op Group now in beef, chicken and vegetable flavours (rsp: £2.75/eight pot pack), with Kallo Organic Gravy Granules available from Tesco and Waitrose in chicken and beef variants (rsp: 89p/35g sachet).

Sachet price is more expensive than the jar version but if they taste as good it will be worth it.

What you need is"Knorr" instant gravy it is Gluten Free problem is it comes in large catering packs so you need a friendly shopkeeper or someone with a cash & carry card (pub Landlord) who sould be able to get it for you. I have had no problems using this.

Saltyswamp - It would be tempting, especially if you cook for many. Spotted this product on eBay for around £20. Would last for ages and you could decant to small jar. Like the fact that they clearly label it gluten free.

Lots of Coeliacs choose to avoid this one deltauk, even though it is lovely, because it's produced on a line that handles wheat flour. Many coeliacs do use it and feel ok but as I'm asymptomatic I prefer to avoid products like this in case its doing damage and I'm not aware.

I understand regards made in same factory or line but it doesn't mean it IS contaminated it's warning of possibilities, but as I say I'm sensitive and I'm great with it.

interesting thread- I gave up on gravy ages back as I cant tolerate cornflour. have found Kallo veg stockcubes hard to get , all of a sudden- my stockpile is getting small. Its the only stockcube available non-corn and GF that I can tolerate. I was thinking of getting in touch with kallo

Have also seen them in two other supermarkets so it may just be that you are unlucky. Our of interest if you don't use the cornflour what do you use for thickening?
