Feeling sorry for myself

Hi I just had to share because I am feeling sorry for myself. I am currently into hour 4 of my 24 hour fasting before my endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow. I think it's the fact that I know I can't eat that is making me so hungry.

Mind you at least I haven't had to go back onto the gluten again. Anyway sorry for the self pity!

it's hard isn't it, but the glow of self righteousness when they put 'bowel prep excellent' on your report!. and it makes the surgeon's job so much easier for good clean biopsies and accurate lab work . go for it scousekitty, good luck

Thank you, I have just had my 1st dose of laxative - oh dear lord it tastes like feet! I keep telling myself, it will be worth it in the end.

Hi Scousekitty, and poor you, so of course you feel hungry and probably a little anxious, it's only natural. But of course it will be worth it in the end and you're in good hands as this is just a standard procedure to the hospital and their staff.

This time tomorrow it will all be over so good luck and let us know how you get on.

i was told i had the "best empty bowel" they'd ever seen ..........for a nurse obviously we must think we know better at times lol

anyway hope you are feeling less down about it, will soon be over and is always better than having to go through again cos it wasnt right the fist time

we all have bouts of self pity at times so dont feel sorry about it , hope it all goes well

Thank you for your lovely words, I am trying to be positive, I would rather have both procedures done at once than do one and then a couple of weeks later do the other.

It's just the laxative - it really is the most obnoxious thing I have ever tasted - and I used to eat pot noodles! I've just started my last dose so at least it will be over soon.

I check in at 1pm, so i'll come back later to update you.

Well, it's all behind you now, no pun intended. Hope all went well. The things our bodies have to go through. Good luck.

You are now a lot closer to it being all over and done with....well done.

Spend time painting toe nails....make them so wonderfully elegant....time will soon go....

You will be fine.

The main thing for me was embarrassment, but you get over it. The biopsies will be worth it. I am one of the lucky ones with the DHPTF to go along with Coeliac and I am having to reduce my Dapsone as it is causing my blood count to fall dramatically add that to the vitamin B injections and an increased sensitivity. I am having weekly blood tests, so as ailsamary said we all have bouts of self pity. It will pass, take care.

i quite agree with Apricot - spend time making yourself feel elegant and take time to indulge yourself doing whatever you feel like doing, even if it's just watching the clouds!

I'd imagine you'll read this when you get back home, so I really hope that all went well xx

Hi everyone, thanks for your advice. Well it was OK, I went down at 2 and was discharged at 6. I had a lovely cheese and ham butty with a cuppa after.

Although sedation didn't work on me - wide awake and fully aware the whole time - YAY! But it's done now so I am tucking into scrambled egg on toast.
