Has anyone ever taken Apricot kernels for cancer or know of anyone who has ?

We are just about to experiment with them for hubby, I am wondering the best way for him to take them, on cereal ? or neat ?

thanks

no views on efficacy, but proper amaretto biscuits are made with these - it means the traditional ones are ok for me to eat as they are gluten free, which is why I pay attention. These lovely little biscuits are very versatile and easy to eat.

As far as I know there are no stringent research papers which confirm that apricot kernels would be useful in cancer treatment. I do know however that Apricot kernels contain a substance called Laetrile and the active ingredient of laetrile is cyanide,

It might be an idea to run this past your hubands consultant to be on the safe side.

Hi Maryelle, I know nothing about this nor have I ever heard of it as a solution but as it is a food and contains a vitamin B17 also known as amygdalin or laetrile I thought I would do a little digging. I have found a source from Cancer UK ..

cancerhelp.cancerresearchuk...

Please read the link carefully as it does suggest that using it may cause side effects if other medication is being taken at the same time. Added to this as with all types of foods not everyone is suited to eating it.

The second link is written by a Paul Fassa on a Natural News site (I know nothing about his credentials and the site is a US website).

I'm not sure whether this site might also be a help but it might contain some useful information for you. It is for a British holistic cancer charity:

I suggest you consult with your Dr on this as any 'natural' remedies can often have an adverse effect.

I presume your husband is also being treated by a medical Dr for his cancer as well?

My father used apricot kernels with an anti cancer treatment for prostate cancer but he felt that the other things he did were of more use and didn't take them for long. He seemed to think it was the elimination of dairy and the special juices he had to porepare every day which helped the most.

I find this dr myhill to be a valuable resource.

Thank you everyone for your comments, yes hubby has undergone all the radiotherapy, steroids and hormone treatment, now he is stable but has developed skin cancer - on his face.

He is willing to try just about anything now........

thank you

I'd advise against trying 'anything' in desperation Maryelle. Many things are no more than snake oil. See an dermatologist Dr and ensure he's getting the best skin cancer/ other treatment he needs to recover and save your money.

Well known cyanide linkage to apricot kernels.

Cyanide is a highly toxic nerve agent that kills cells and disrupts heart and lung function.

In larger quantities it will kill you. So best advice is keep well away from them.
