Marmite type spread

Hi,

I hope you are all as well as can be.

I'm trying to find out if there is a gluten free marmite type spread that actually tastes nice for sale anywhere. I asked in Holland and Barrett today but they don't have anything so not sure where to try next.

Thanks for reading,

Louise x

Vecon,

Although it contains “yeast extract “ so you may want to check with the manufacturers what they mean by that

Meridian yeast extract with salt tastes exactly like Marmite (don't get the one without salt - horrid).

I noticed just this week that Marmite is now labeling wheat, barley and rye in the ingredients. Presumably so they can use any type of brewers yeast. I have used Marmite for years with no obvious issues, but will now think twice in case the formula has changed. The Tesco own label Yeast extract does not list these grains. I wonder if Marmite are being a bit over cautious with their 'alibi' labeling? This link is from Coeliac UK in 2014.

No doubt you will test them. Did you know super market sites list the ingredients? And using an add-on have highlighted gremlins, making spotting naughty stuff easy.

No have not found an alternative. One of many have had to cross off shopping list.

Hi Louise I buy Tesco's own and havent had any issues. I think quite a few of the supermarket own brands are safe, but best to check the ingredients to be safe
