Glutegard and similar products - any good?

Hello. This is my first post here although I've been a member of the Thyroid UK community on HU for several months. As a result of advice there I've been following a gluten free diet for eight months now and feel much better for it. I also notice how my body reacts if I do get accidentally glutened. I intend to keep following a strictly gluten free diet, but shortly have to go travelling with work and am worried about the risk of contamination when I can't control where and what I eat as much as usual. I've heard about products like Glutegard and Glutease etc that supposedly help your body deal with accidentally ingested gluten. Has anyone tried any of these, and are they any good? Just looking for ways to try to reduce the risk of getting I'll while I'm away! Thanks in advance.

I saw someone ask a very similar question elsewhere in the site last week, this might be helpful:

I've heard about this, and I did look for reviews that sounded like they were from real people, and not some marketing machine. The best I could find was "can't tell whether it works, or whether we've just been lucky when eating out"...

Thanks, Cooper27 - that was me! 😀 Someone responding to that thread suggested I come over here to Gluten Free Guerillas and ask, hence the post here as well. Good to "meet" a familiar person here!

D'oh! I meant to check the name of the person that posted :D I blame the heat!

If it helps, they have a Facebook page, and this post has a free shipping offer (clearly a sponsored post though):

I'll highlight this comment from Morgan Bertram:

Tasker You could try a Nima sensor which tests your food for gluten. My daughter has one which she uses perfect for traveling small and compact.
