Definitely, ask for a test! There is a genetical link as well as symptoms. Autism is associated with Celiac's and hypo's mums.

Even if the tests came back negative, he needs to be on a gluten-free diet as often Celiac's is not confirmed until it is full blown and intestinal villi have been wiped out. This may take 15-20 years in certain cases.

Going GF is usually done after the tests are all completed! Best to check with his doctor!

I hope they do😊 i asked this prior to my endoscopy(for a different issue) and they said no because it has to be referred by a gp on a seperate referral and the fact that being it is a biopsy a consultant would need to do it as normal endoscopies or gastros are usually nurse led-so i ended up having bloody 2 procedures-could have saved nhs some cash there. Good luck.x😊😊
