Is soy and tofu good for you or not?

Hi, I've been puzzled by the health benefits of soy, I keep hearing that it's bad for men and women because it raises the level of estrogen in the body. What would be your take on this?

Most soya beans come from the US and are GM I have read. Also not good for thyroid sufferers .... not sure of the oestrogen connection ....

Probably would be a good idea to get your levels checked...and if breast, or any type of estrogen related cancer runs in your family?

I have cut back on too much, use it moderately, as I love Trader Joe's

Cherry, Chocolate Ice Cream! Do not eat much tofu anymore, but if I do buy anything so it is always non GMO. I worry about too much estrogen too, those kind of cancers do not run in my family...but I just

Minimize my intake of it...buy. Antibiotic and non GMO fed 🐔. We have a great store that makes great breast slices, ....just buy a lot of those and freeze em, you can use them in anything. Now I am working on Salicylic Acid Sensitivities...I have that, amazing how much I can not eat now...but am off antacids. So gf/df, organic, and now this, and they

are organic with heirloom seeds (zucchini)...I accidentally stumbled on this page, and there are no accidents! I am now after fodmap working on this. My blood work now is perfect, and I have lost 50 pounds...slowly. There is just so much ruined soil that it is ruining everyone's health!

Good day! I have

My oncologist suggested I keep of soya products due to B.C. being oestrogen positive. Also had Tamoxefin which lowers oestrogen , so don't wish to take chances with soya.

Your Doc is correct, I am trying to get my doc to check my blood for this, because of switching to soy. If you have been told you have that estrogen deal, by all means DO NOT EAT IT! It, soy, is high in phtoestrogens! I wish I did not have that almond reaction, cause I have had to change my whole diet.

If this doc does not seem to eye with me on this I already have an itergrative medical doc I will change to, I have to switch healthcare groups, but we all have to watch out for #1! I drink very little soy, and have gone to cashew vanilla milk ice cream.........soooooooo

Good. All these diets seem so confusing, you just have to do what you gotta do....type a blood, no cashews, fodmap cashews are bad, Salycitic foods eat cashews??????? Well I think you just have to be moderate in all things, but if you are estrogen receptive do not eat soy products! We all need to get our blood checked, but if you have stayed off gluten for 6 years, it will not show up...you I guess just have to again be moderate, because these diets are not 100% for anyone, we all have different fingerprints, and dna, ect...so it is a recipe I guess to start with, and remove and add what gets along with you?????

Just my take on all of this confusion!

I think every medical doctor should have to go back to school to study nutrition, as we are not man made chemicals either!

The effect of phyto-oestrogen in soy products seem to have been helpful in alleviating symptoms in some menopausal women, but there is some concern over the effects on men. Adverse effects have been seen in animals fed on soy.

A site like PubMed will probably give you more information.

I find I am as intolerant to soy as I am to gluten. They are both off my list.
