Methotrexate query

Hi am currently on Methotrexate for my Crohns, I was on Azathioprine before this and steroids, I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease 2.5 years ago and Crohns a year after that. my query is that I know that I have been glutened (accidentally of course) a couple of times but did not get a reaction, do you think that the meds that I take to calm down my immune system for my Crohns are also affecting the immune system if I ingest gluten?

Thank you

Hi lessan

I don't know, its a good question. I am on methotrexate too but for rheumatoid arthritis.

I know that not everyone gets symptoms with their coeliac disease and find out coincidentally because of anaemia. and some people think they can tolerate some gluten ( but actually the damage is still happening in their bowel).

Sorry I cannot be of more help. if you are under the care of a gastroenterologist maybe you could ask him/her at your next appointment?

Thank you for your reply, I used to suffer very bad symptoms before I went gluten free which is why I wondered, but yes I will see my Gastro nurse and ask her.
