Hi, does anyone have Transtions lenses maybe? Are they helpful? I'm very light sensitive because of glaucoma. I will ask my eye doctor today about that but I would like to hear your opinion too. Xtractive get activated in the car so that is great because I'm driving a lot.And they are lightly tinted in their clear stage and I personaly find that very helpful. Thanks

I have had transitions lenses in my specs but they were incredibly expensive. I now have gone back to Specsavers and have reactorapide (or similar) and they’re fine. Couldn’t really imagine doing without them.

I don't have a choice unfortunetelly, Xtractive are the only one that can activate in the car. I don't know the price yet, but now I'm scared haha.Do you mind if I ask you what price they tell you? Thanks

Sorry Sabina, I never had a cost breakdown. The specs set me back over £600 but I have a complex prescription and have to have thinned glass - so all in all it’s an expensive exercise 😱. I had them less than a year as my prescription changed…

Hi! I have Transitions lenses and I have found they made a big difference to my light sensitivity. However I was told they would work in the car for driving but they tint only slightly in the car but not enough on a really bright day but I’m managing so far. I suspect it depends on the tint on your car windscreen hiw well they work. My optician thought my prescription was only changing over 2 yrs at the point I got them. 3 months later I had SLT on one eye and I think my prescription has changed although no one can tell me if that was the SLT. I’m due for more SLT in the other eye now so waiting to see what my vision is like after that. I’m uncertain if I can afford to change my glasses again as the Transitions cost hundreds of pounds.

My issue is I have lost vision centrally in my right eye and normal bright daylight makes me screw up my left eye by reflex. Of course this makes me hyper aware of my vision loss in my right eye, something my consultant does not seem to be willing to take on board.

So yes they work. Not brilliantly in car. Glaucoma and your treatments seem to encourage your prescription to change (along with aging of course) so you will need to change them frequently, They are expensive to purchase. On top of the hundred odd pounds a year I spend on drops - even with a medical card - glaucoma can be an expensive business in these difficult times! 😕

I just came back from optician and I am very happy with the price. I ordered Transitions Xtractive Polarised with my prescription, I did eye test there for 308€ without the frame. Not to bad at all, I expected higher price to be honest. It is pricey but my prescription didn't change 3 years so I'm optimistic about that. Thanks for the info

Ah! Maybe in England they’re more expensive then.
