For anybody who is thinking of having an I stent.

I had an I stent in dec20 and initially pressures increased, and still high feb but today the pressure is now back down to what it was before I stent and consultant happy with outcome and finally allowed me to stop my pilocarpine drops.🙂

That's good to hear, do you need any drops at all now into either eye

I had a trab op on my left eye and that eye only needs dry eye drops. My right eye had the I stent , but still on dorzolamide/timolol and latanoprost ,

Hi that's great it has worked for you, it must have been a relief being told your pressures were down today. I am interested as I was considering asking my consultant if I would be suitable for an I stent. He has already said I will probably need a trabeculectomy in my left eye but I prefer the idea of I stent as it has shorter operating time and is minimally invasive. It's good to hear a happy outcome ☺️

After my trab op on left eye my consultant also told me he would operate on right eye but I managed to go 5years, my consultant has only just started doing I stent surgery, it took about the same time but that was probably due to lack of experience doing them. Have you lost any vision in your left eye? As my consultant still says I may need a trab if I start to loose any vision.

My left eye is my good eye and only mild vision loss . My pressure appears to be stuck at 20 from a previous 15. My consultant wants my pressures at 14. My trab took about an hour whereas I had read 30 minutes for I stent, that's why it's so much better talking to someone who has actually had op done.

My consultant has been doing I stents for a while now so I will definitely ask him about the possibility.

Fingers crossed you don't need a trab and the I stent is enough for you.

Oh that is such good news, it’s really lovely to hear when things are going well. I’m due to have an emergency cataract operation in my left eye to give more space internally (I do have the complication of pseudoexfoliation so I understand why the surgeon is going for this as a first line to reduce pressure ) however I’m always thinking what next. So thank you for sharing, I really hope your pressures remain low and all is well for you. x
