stomach acid
I don't understand this stomach acid 'thing'. I take a proton pump inhibitor for high stomach acid but people insist that as you get older you're stomach acid reduce. I'm 79. Also that doctors erroneously mistake low stomach acid for high!! What is going on? Any thoughts

Hi all,I've been taking 1,sometimes 2 laxido sachets daily for the past 3 months and this has helped. My gastroenteritis has suggested swapping for prucalopride 1mg but this gives me all day stomach ache.My question is,is laxido safe to use daily long term?

still not diagnosed but concerned about IBS
Sorry for lengthy post I am new here. I started an antibiotics course (one week) Doxycycline on 24 April 2023 for throat infection and fever,as soon I finish it, I started having diarrhoea. That time I was in very stress and depression for another reason. It's been almost over 9 months now. Diarrhea

Help! Stomach Bug & Holiday!
For over a week I have had some sort of stomach bug with awful pains in the lower stomach, causing loose stools, feeling chilled then hot, with a recurring headache. I contacted my doctor asking for urgent stool tests, as I am due to go on holiday to Spain next Monday, just in case it is a stomach bug

Please someone reassure me that this is another IBS flare up
Last year I went through a bad phase with my bowels, had numerous doctor visits and blood/stool tests. The doctor said IBS again due to negative results and also based on my previous history of negative tests along with normal sigmoidoscopy. I've been having sporadic bad IBS flares which appear different

Duloxetine
Hi all, I’ve been suffering with IBS-M for over 3 years now. As a result Anxiety has been exacerbated for around the same amount of time and led to mild agrophobia and severe GAD. I’ve been prescribed Duloxetine for the anxiety, and have also heard it can be beneficial for IBS suffers. However,

A reply to Wasabigirl’s post about PID (?) which has since been deleted
You could ask for an MRI of the lower pelvis and muscles there. A sonogram generally cant see those areas (nor a laparoscopy or laparotomy) and pain in those areas can refer to the groin. I had an infection and was only treated with tetracycline for 5 days (many years ago). Then the terrible burning

Fennel Seeds
Hi everyone, I've recently done some research into fennel seeds, and I've read that apparently it contains a compound called Anethole, which helps to relax the muscles in your digestive tract. I was just wondering if anyone here has eaten fennel seeds before and can verify this. I am looking for ways

Bronchoscopy
I’ve been in hospital for 3+ weeks while they try to work out what is causing me to have spikes of temperature, even though my infection markers have dropped. Last night I was told I would be having a bronchoscopy this morning, so not a lot of sleep! I forgot to ask how long these results take to

Pegasys side effects
I was switched from 500 Hydroxyurea/day to 90mg Pegasys every two weeks. The pain in hips and thighs is substantial - headache also, but not as bothersome as the muscle pain. Has anyone else experience this on Pegasys. Also, has anyone tried CoQ10 for muscle pain and has it work? Thanks
