Itraconazole - physician question

I’ve been on a liquid compound (Betablast 1%/250 MCG)of itraconazole for my maxillary sinus for about 3 years. My question is can you be on itraconazole forever. I’ve tried stopping (up to 5 days) but i feel really bad after a few days. I’ve reduced the dosage from 3x/daily to 1x/daily. Although, the fungal issue seems to have gone away the tissue within the maxillary sinus area has changed. Without the medication the mucus is extremely thick and I start to not feel well. I’ve tried nasal rinses which seem to worsen the situation, a form of steroid medication administered through a nasal rinse - nothing seems to help?

I think it best that you consult your doctor about this as they will be best placed to diagnose this problem for you. If as you say they find no sign of fungal growth in your sinuses then there is little point in taking itraconazole.

Betablast' is other than a dietary supplement so what its relevance is to a sinus infection is unknown to me.
