I'll try to make it short, i had some urethral discharge doc gave me 7 days antibiotic without diagnosis, didnt work so gave me another courseof antibiotics it continued for two months, i got really sick with cough and sputum and was diagnosed with chest infection pseudomonas, i got admit and another 1 month of antibiotics, while on antibiotics i started having rectal pain and bleeding , diarrhoea, abdominal pain, urethral pain, nausea, mouth sores , white tongue and patches behind my throat, now i am not on antibiotic its day 10 my mouth sores are healed no more rectal bleeding, but still i am having leaky gut rectal pain urethral discomfort, patches on my throat , dizziness nasal congestion , headache , fatigue joint pain. All my std and other blood test are normal, nothing in urine culture and microscopic stool test. Probiotics are increasing my symptoms , i am on light diet and multivitamins, could all this be because of #candida over growth, been to so many hospitals they think i am mad. Dont know what to do. I am 26 yrs old male with no previous illness. Spittle test looks strong positive, but could be due to dehydration.

sounds like a fungus. have yourself tested for mycotoxins.

And what then? We all eat mycotoxins as part of our food as at the levels allowed they are thought to be harmless - indeed there is no well described example of mycotoxins at the low levels found in our food chain causing illness. The toxins (which our bodies are well adapted to rapidly detoxify and remove) are something we have lived with as long as we have been on earth as fungi preceded humans in evolutionary time.

In some countries of the world people are forced to eat large amounts of mycotoxin in very mouldy food for months and consequently some are known to cause health problems - so unless you are routinely eating mouldy food you are very unlikely to be sick from mycotoxins (other than mycotoxins we enjoy abusing such as alcohol).

Much better to get yourself tested for fungal infection if that is what you are concerned about.

At a guess some of what you describe might be adverse effects of the antibiotic you took - and will mostly clear up without further intervention. Disruption of your gut bacteria caused by the antibiotics can take some time to rectify - it sounds like your doctor is trying to accelerate the process using probiotics which might help but in itself might cause further symptoms for a while until all gut flora is in balance again. Candida is only one part of the gut flora.

Your ongoing symptoms needs to be looked into by your doctor as only they have your full clinical details - it is not something that can be diagnosed in a forum such as this one. Sorry to not be much help!

You will absolutely have an overgrowth of yeast after that many antibiotics! White tongue is definitely candida, plus many of your other symptoms. Possibly the probiotics don't suit you or they could be helping with the yeast overgrowth, causing 'die off' symptoms. That is an awful lot of antibiotics over a short period and it will have consequences in your body.

I find a good probiotic for yeast is S. Boulardii, lots of health stores have it or you can get it online. It's a yeast, rather than a bacteria but it helps crowd out the bad yeast. However, you may need to go on a stronger anti-fungal like Nystatin, this should only be taken for a month at most. While on that, you need to follow a strict anti-candida diet, no sugar, mushrooms, dairy etc. These all feed the yeast. A good website is: thecandidadiet.com. If you don't watch your diet, the Nystatin will be useless or worse, cause rebound yeast build-up. You can also get natural stuff like Pau d'Arco, oregano oil - another one I've found useful is a combination of CandiGone and Interfase Plus, (enzymes that break down the outer cell wall of the yeast - taken on an empty stomach in a.m.) but these things can work out quite expensive. Doctors don't understand yeast overgrowth (you may find one that does) so it might be best to consult a naturopath if you can find one that specialises in candida overgrowth.

Thanks for this. I had 4 courses of antibiotics in Nov & Dec. In January I started with diarrhoea and discomfort in bladder. In February started with cystitis like symptoms. Doctor just kept telling me to drink cranberry juice and all my urine tests come back negative apart from leocytes & protein in water. I've been taking probiotics for months. 3 weeks ago I asked my doctor if I could have a yeast infection and she gave me Canistan. I had a lot of burning and some itching with this. 10 days later she examined me and took a swab. She said it looked like I had a yeast infection but the results were normal. She still thinks it could be yeast so has given me Itrsconazole. This is causing a burning sensation in my abdomen but is also easing the discomfort. My symptoms are cystitis like, andominal pain, vaginal discomfort and backache. N.B. the diarrhoea lasted for 6 months. I have had to go on the FODMAP diet because I seemed to be reacting to lots of foods and I now have immflamation in my small bowel and diverticular disease. Is it common to have a yeast infection and the results of swab to be normal?
