Aspergilloma

I possibly have Aspergilloma but no definitive diagnosis yet other than a nodule in left lung and high count in blood sputum tests. PET/CT Scan still left suspicions due to the nodule seeming to take in the FDG. First CT guided needle biopsy apparently shows not cancerous but not that it is aspergilloma. Have recently asked to be referred to UHSM and can't wait to get there to find out what this is and what should be done about it was offered second biopsy by the next hospital 'up the line' probably followed by a a resection within the month. After that consultation with the consultant thought better of it after talking things over with friends and family and asked to be referred to UHSM. The consultant did mention a referral to UHSM at the last consultation but at that moment I thought it better to wait until the biopsy showed something definite. Still not sure I have made the right decision. I really think from the blood and sputum tests that this is an aspergilloma. What would help with a definitive diagnosis? What symptoms should I be experiencing? Maybe there is a symptom I have that I have put down to something else but is actually a symptom of aspergilloma and could help with the diagnosis.

Hi I'm new here. British, living in France, in what turns out to be a badly decorated to hide condition, rented stone house. Loads of moisture, damp and mold in certain parts all downstairs. Behind wallpaper and in artex painted walls in a small extended utility area. I have to pass through it daily for the toilette/shower. Inadequate ventilation and a bad roof structure has not helped.  I'm making enquiries all the time for another house to rent, in a larger town with better facilities but it's not proving easy, I don't have any transport after a car accident and There isn't any local transport at all in this small all French village. I go shopping via taxi. I live my life through the Internet basically.

I've rented here far too long now, moved in Mar 2014 had "bronchitis" over both following winters and a few other infections. Finally had a chest X-ray this year, doc sent me to see a pulmonologist, who got me back to do a bronchoscopŷ 3 days later, that was on 23rd March. There was a lot of muck he pulled out and sent off for analysis. I'm still waiting for result to see whether it's aspergillosis or not, given the 2 diff types of mold seen here, but my condition was certainly chronic at the time, especially on the breathing tests he gave me, nigh on impossible! Now Spring is here, yes there is rain, also a bit more sun and lots of cold wind, but at least it's not making me as unwell as I was in winter.

I Hope you are all doing well or better and that your own health improves.

I would certainly look to move out. Your house sounds damp and you are at risk of severe asthma, allergy and infection.

Just seen that there are 8 others who have answered "acute invasive" - this seems to be very rare, so if anyone else is still around and wants to make contact to swap notes, that would be great!

Acute invasive aspergillosis is actually one of the more common infections affecting people who have had a transplant (for example). Patients normally recover relatively quickly and require no more support. The other chronic forms of aspergillosis (eg ABPA, CPA, SAFS) are long term infections/allergies so patients tend to stick around much longer and need support for years.

Sadly not in my case. I'm immuno-competent, but still have invasive aspergillosis in my cerebellum.
