Being a better you.

In support group this week we talked about things we do just for ourselves to make ourselves happy. It's a healthful thing for patients and caregivers alike. So tell me what you do that gives you pleasure?

Taking our dog for a walk makes me happy. It brings out his inner puppy.

Hi Denzie, great idea! Your fellow has the cutest face, I just love our pet friends. My happy thing is talking with my daughter on the phone every night - we live across the country from each other, but we laugh and talk like we still live in the same house:)

I love that you can do that so easily now. Remember when a long distance call was a reason to be quiet? Or, we had to wait for the weekend when rates dropped? Today I can FaceTime or Skype with my family and friends in Europe.

Family is so important to our success as patients. If not for my family there've been time when I might not pull through.

Denzie, you are so right. A long distance call used to be something you did very quickly and on the weekends or evenings. We had a party line too, ha ha.

Thank God for your family. I completely understand.

I love doing genealogy! So many twists and turns.

Can you share something? My sister is doing this and totally debunked some family stories but replaced them with cool new info.

I was researching the family name on my grandmothers sude. Went clear back to the 1700’s. Come to find out her father was illegitimate and I had been searching the wrong surname. Still haven’t found the true surname.

We always thought we were descendant of General Bragg for whom Fort Bragg was named. My sister shot that down.

My happy thing is going for drives in the country with my husband and dog. We grab a soda and he drives us on various highways so we just chat about anything and everything. We look at the crops and nature around us, sing songs, laugh. Just enjoy looking at God's beautiful countryside.

Oh, that brings back some of the best memories of my childhood. Enjoy each and every mile!

Great Idea!!

I have two amazing "Rescue" Pups that I adopted in early 2013 and they have been my "babies" for the past few years -- they are wonderful little dogs (Chiweenies) and always there to provide me "Unconditional Love". I also enjoy taking them for walks and it helps to make sure we both get out for some exercise every day. (Well almost every day)!

Earlier this year I became a "Nana" and now have my very first Grandchild, a beautiful little Girl who is my newest Love, Hope and Inspiration. I absolutely adore and cherish spending time with her and have now been babysitting a few hours/days every week, so that I can have my own special "bonding" time with her and also to help out my son and daughter-in-law, while they are working. I LOVE her with all my heart and feel very blessed to have her in my life! When I was diagnosed in March of 2105 with Stage IV NSCLC and a Brain Met - I honestly thought I would never have a grand baby in my life -- I'm so lucky to be stable and doing well and now have this precious gift. Pure LOVE and JOY! Pups and Babies are wonderful "love bugs".

If I would figure out how to share a picture I would --- but that doesn't seem to be an option for me in a post?

Lisa, I'd love to see a picture of your grand and your Chiweenies. Do remember when the other site wouldn't. People found a way using the Photobucket app. Upload your pics to Photobucket then copy the URL it gives you for the pic into your entry. Voila!

Ps: it looks like you can only add a pic here when you initiate a thread. Let's ask that they include a means to do it for everyone.
