Update on RW

This is RWs wife, he hasn't been doing well at all. After his 2nd immunotherapy it wasn't even a week and he was back in the hospital. This stuff just isn't working only making things worse , he is worse. After 1 week in the hospital they moved him to palliative care for another week because there is nothing left to try. They r giving him days or weeks and this was August 17. He is now at home with hospice, where r going into the 4th week of being home. But last night he has gone from being his self to being very disorient and combative and he isn't eating at all. I know this site has helped him and been good for him to talk with all of you. I will try to keep all of u updated. Thanks his wife Chasity

  • Dear Chastity,

Thank you for the update. I was concerned that we hadn't heard from him in a while. Please, when he is in a calm place let him know that he touched our lives and, no matter how brief, made our world a bit better. We all had such high hopes for him when he entered the trial. As someone who benefitted because others participated in trials I owe him a debt of gratitude.

Take care of you at this very stressful time. If you can, have some of his friends or family come over so that you can shop, shower or go out to a movie. Don't be afraid to ask hospice for compassionate relief- they will hospitalize him for a day or two so you can rest.

  • Sorry to hear that the trial didn't work. Take care of yourself at this very stressful time.

  • Dear Chastity,

That you for the update even if the news is not good. Please know that you, RW and your family are in my thoughts. I always looked forward to reading RW's posts and his reply's to others posts, he was always kind, encouraging and supportive. May you find peace during this trying time.

  • Dear Chasity,

Thank you for the update. So very sorry it is not good news. Please don't be afraid to ask a family member or friend to give you some respite. You MUST take care of you, too, during this most difficult time. I spent every spare moment with my uncle (pancreatic cancer) for 6 weeks, and it took a great toll. I know that when my time comes, I will force my care giver to take time for simple things like a movie or dinner with friends. We often forget that the care giver has such a difficult part in all of this.

May God watch over all of you during this most difficult time.

  • I'm so sorry the trial didn't work. I pray God will give you strength through this difficult time and that RW won't suffer long. May God give you all pHis peace through this process.

  • I am so sorry to hear that RW is not responding to the treatment. As everyone has advised, take care of yourself. Please know that your husband has been an inspiring and compassionate voice to us. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Dear Chasity,

Thank you for thinking of us and letting us know how RW is doing at such a difficult time for yourself and your whole family. Sending my best hopes that RW's medical team will help him find comfort.

I also hope that you have a support system to help you and your children. This is all too fast, too soon.

  • Chasity, how kind of you to take the time to share this news with us. As you can see, we are all very sad to hear that the treatment did not work for him. RW has been a bright light on this site, I always enjoy his posts. I pray that he finds peace and comfort soon, and that you are kind to yourself through this difficult, challenging time. It is so painful to see someone we love struggle so, please hear us when we ask that you take care of yourself too. You have much to carry in your soul right now. • Hi Chasity,

This breaks my heart. RW was so strong. He is now forever your guardian angel. Please know you are in my prayers and may you somehow, someway find comfort in knowing he's not suffering any longer. I'm here if you need anything. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»

  • I'm so very sorry. Praying for you. May he Rest In Peace

  • Oh, Chasity, I am so very sorry. It is terrible to lose someone you care about so deeply; seeing their suffering end is the only comfort. The love you created between you is eternal, unique, wonderful. Hang on to that, allow yourself to grieve, reach out to others so that you do not walk this alone. The acute pain will ease, your memories will carry you, but the loss is something that will be part of who you are now. You were his rock, remember what a loving presence you were for him during this difficult time. Celebrate the time you had. Please be kind to yourself.

  • Dear Chasity,

Deepest condolences to you and your family. I'm so sorry that you lost your dear husband. I am grateful for what he shared with us all on this site. May his memory be a blessing to you all.
