Having biopsy on lung

I have a biopsy for this coming Wed. They will go in thru the back, and wanting to know if anyone else has had this done, and how it was. I had adenocarcinoma in lymph node in 2012, had chemo, and cyberknife, and then had the node removed, and have been cancer free since. Now i have a growth on my left lung, so doing biopsy to see what it is.I have never had anything like this before, so it is pretty scary to me.

I had two CT guided fine needle biopsies. Both times they went through th back. My mom's was done that way, too. I was given an ativan before they numbed the area. I experienced no complicarions and was aware when the needle went in but no pain.

Super easy in fact my nerves were a real pain but the biopsy no pain at all

Had it done back in 2012 remember falling asleep during procedure when I woke up no pain at all. I wish you the best of luck, hang in there !

I had mine done the same way...Thru my Back. AS I watched on the CT Scan monitor, they did a local right behind my shoulder blade, then inserted a tiny tube, almost like a slightly large needle, down thru my back into the tumor, using the Scan as a visual guide. Once the Tube was in, He then inserted the "scissors" as I call it into it, and then down to the tumor. When we was ready to take the 'snip', he said hold your breath for a second or 2, and proceeded to maneuver to another area for another snip. They took 4 snips of the tumor in 4 areas. It only felt like a slight pressure when they were inserting the guide tube, kinda like someone hits you in the back, but nothing else. No pain at all, and only a bandaid on the puncture point. Was in and out in 1/2 hour. Funny watching the needle going in and out. You'll be fine.

I had mine done through my back also. The hardest part of the whole procedure is to make sure you don't move. Wishing you good results.

I was put to sleep for the procedure. Did have some pain the night after which was helped with heat and naproxen. Hope it goes well for you.

Had biopsy done by guided scan in March, and was fine. They numbed my back and it just felt like pressure. When they did take a sample - total of 4 - I just had to hold my breath for a few seconds. Because mine was done first thing in the morning, I was out and enjoying Thai supper the same night.

So glad you asked - as you can see from other's responses, The worst part of what is going to happen is worrying. Hope we have helped take the worry away.

Well, i had the biopsy done this morning. I didnt feel it as they gave me something , but after i woke up, i have pain in my whole chest and ribs. I cant cough, or laugh, even move much, or it is extremely painful. Even the nurse said that isnt common. I am going to give it a few days if I can stand it, and hope the pain goes away. I am assuming it is just where they had to go thru the back and my ribs.

Please speak with your doctor's office tomorrow to make sure you are okay. It is probable they hit a nerve and can give you pain medication, but it is also possible that something more serious is going on. Either way, it is good for your doctor to know what is happening. You shouldn't be in that much pain.If they did hit a nerve, it would be nice to have the pain relieved!

I had exactly the same response to my first needle biopsy. Pain so severe I ended up in ER the following day, but it was related to irritated nerves from the biopsy and subsided on its own within two to three days. Apparently, it can happen but it's not common, and it didn't last long. Hope yours behaves the same way.....
