Cat scan report after one year of lung lobectomy surgery

Greetings and blessings to this wonderful community. My report was slightly indeterminate, which, has me feeling edgy. It states numerous new bilateral tiny subsolid lung nodules might be infection or inflammatory, but neoplama cannot be excluded. Oncologist didn't seem to be worried and recommended six month repeat of cat scan. I plan to visit my pulmonologist for a bettet explanation this week. Has anyone had similar diagnoses after cat scan? Thanking you in advance for any helpful advise.

Lung nodules have a myriad of causes. If you have asthma, allergies, recent cold or bronchial infection, exposure to household cleaning fumes or other vapors these can cause nodules. When you talk about to the pulmonologist ask him to push for a 3 month follow up. If this was my body, that's what I would do.

Thank you Denize for responding. Yes, the oncologist did say 3 month follow up and six month cat scan. I will see pulmonologist tomorrow. I'm grateful for your reply on what might cause nodules🌺

So glad I can be of help. One thing I forgot to mention is that 90-95% of nodules resolve on their own or never get any bigger. Here in Michigan where I live there's a fungus called histoplasmosis. It's estimated that 50% of MI residents are walking around with it. Only a tiny percentage will have problems related to that. The rest will be found only if their death warrants an autopsy.

My nodule turned out to be adenocarcinoma. Would defiantly insist on follow up to see if nodules are growing.

Thank you Debmar23. I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma nslc in july 2016 and had surgery....no chemo or radiation was required. This is my yearly check up. I'm taking full report to my long time pulmonologist today

I had a ct scan that showed growths on my lungs, they were not sure what they were since they were so small. Had another ct scan in 6 months which showed that the growths were to small to biopsy but they changed shape from looking like it had fingers around it to becoming circular. All this was within 3 years of having surgery and chemo for NSCLC. The last ct report from the radiologist determined the growths were calcium growths. Now able to have a ct scan once a year. I know it is hard waiting to know what the growths are, but sometimes that is exactly what you need to do. Hope everything turns out well, and that you are able to live each day to it's fullest.

thank you kindly. I guess that I expected the cat scan to show no evidence of desease after one year of surgery. But then again they are so small that doctors have to deem report indeterminate. So yea the best medicine right now is live, laugh be positive and have faith. Thank you for bringing this to light😍

The same thing happened to me. I am following a small lesion in the operative lung which my oncologist does not feel is of concern. I am concerned and want to continue to watch until I'm sure it is not growing. So far it has grown 1 mm in 6 months. That is minimal, but still concerns me. It's a matter watch and wait. You will probably be told the same thing. If you experience any symptoms that concern you contact your doctor for further testing.

I hope this helps.

Hi Jean....it might not concern the tresting oncologists because it's so small......but I'm not waiting six months to find out. Mt pulmonologist suggested three months and any growth shown witin that period i will visit Memorial Slone Kettering in NYC. Jean i wish you the best and God bless🙏

I like your pulmonologist. You can't do better than Sloan Kettering in N.Y. I'm an ex New Yorker.

HI , 11 years ago I had a Ct scan and they saw mosaic glass nodules on both lungs, One doctor wanted to just watch it. I am not a watch it kinda of person. Went to another doc who I trust very much and he suggested a biopsy. Hence stage 4 lung cancer. If I wasn't proactive I may not be responding to your e mail. Keep on your own health. Why be worried unnecessarily
