Living live to it's fullest!

I was diagnosed on October 4th 2016 with stage 4 lung cancer, it had spread to my back and stomach. I under went chemo for four months with a total of 6 rounds of chemo or 18 doses. I didn't get sick, but I did suffer with constipation, anxiety, sleeplessness, and terrible heartburn, so terrible that I thought I was having a heart attack. I got thru it and was told by my doctor that I am now in full remission. He was very pleased with my recovery, and he said that my positive attitude and having a loving family helped me get thru it all. I don't know when it will be back, but I am living my life to the fullest the I am financially able to. I love God, thanks to him he has shown me that life isn't all about money and what you can buy or do with it, but about family and love. I hope to live another 30 plus years, but whatever he deems to give me I plan on living it to the fullest, and loving and enjoying my family!

Congratulations! What type lung cancer? Did you get tested for mutations? What tyoe of chemo did you have? It's important to have follow up ct scans about every 3 months. I am stage iv lung cancer and on my 4th line of treatment and have had radiation series on both lungs.

Kat56- I just joined this community recently and I am trying to get info from lung cancer survivors about what helped the most when you were undergoing treatment. I am spending time with someone currently starting chemo for stage 4 lung cancer. Any specifics about what a friend could do to help ? Thanks.

Rides, food,changing mybed, laundry, .just so tired you don't have the energy to do for yourself. Offer food, prepare food but don't push them to eat. Drink, proteen drinks . It''s such a comfort to have friends caring, staying overnight, walking the dog.

Staying positive and praying with her will be a be help, because just having someone that will listen to you and pray with you is very much comforting. Ask what she needs done and don't let her tell you nothing, because she will not want to be a burden. Hug her, because she needs that human contact to feel like she isn't an outcast. Love her just as she is, because there will be days that she will not be a nice person. Tell her to stay positive because attitude is everything and it will make her life happier.

Congratulations on reaching NED! That is quite a feat for someone with Stage IV cancer and I'm so happy for you. I am thankful to be stable and I'll take stable for as long as I can. I have also always tried to have a very positive attitude, but admit there are times that it is hard. I reached NED the first Summer after I was diagnosed (August of 2015) but then had progression in October...sigh - that's when I had radiation and eventually started on Immunotherpay (Opdivo). I'm very lucky, as Opdivo has worked very well for me (despite some side effects). I have now been stable for close to a year and am off treament and like you "enjoying life". I am also now a "Nana" to a beautiful little 4 month old girl and she's my first Grand-baby a dream come true. When I was diagnosed in March of 2015, I never thought I would see this dream, now I have! I feel very blessed and I LOVE spending time with her -- she's given me a whole new HOPE and inspiration!! I wish you the very best and will continue to hope and pray we all find our CURE!!

Thank you!! I'm not quite back to NED yet, but I am Stable and have been for many months, so I'll take that and hope NED comes next. But, I'm also happy to be feeling pretty well, off treatment and well enough to be "living" life and spending lots of time babysitting for my sweet little grand-daughter. She's a whole new LOVE in my life and I could not be happier to have her!!

Thank you Peggy, I have an amazing doctor who happens to have the best staff. The nurses there are soooo nice and my doctor is even more so. He has so much compassion for his patients, they all love him and his staff.

I to had radiation ,33 in total. I also thought I was having heartburn, to be told by my G I Dr.that they burnt my esophagus. It took months for it to heal .At one point I could not eat or drink ,had to go to Dr.to be hydrated. Glad to hear you are doing well ,God Bless you .
