PET Scan tomorrow

I've been on Tarceva going on 14 months now. With my last CT scan there was a slight change so I'm having a PET scan tomorrow. I pray it doesn't show hot for new cancer cells. I was hoping to get a couple years on Tarceva.

Sending best hopes! If Tarceva is beginning to lose its oomph for you, the PET will also help identify a spot for a biopsy to see if you have the T790M resistance mutation, and can move to Tagrisso.

Got a phone call, my PET scan has to be rescheduled as the machine is down. Probably will be a couple weeks now as my dr only sees patients one day a week and he doesn't have an appt available until the 4th.

The idea of a PET scan scares me. Do I really want to know if the enemy has spread?

These delays can be so frustrating. Try to keep your mind and body occupied. Staying in the present moment helps reduce the fear. Hoping for a good report.

Finally had the PET scan last Wednesday after being postponed for two weeks. Get the results later today.

Results were not what we were hoping for though we were expecting. The cancer is growing again. I go back next week for a needle biopsy as the blood biopsy didn't show anything more than what was already known. A couple weeks after the biopsy we'l have a plan of action in place.

I am so very sorry, impossible not to be frustrated, angry...and the list goes on. I will be very interested in hearing what plan the docs put together for moving forward. Keep that hope burning bright. Hugs, Peggy

The needle biopsy is scheduled for Monday. Definitely nervous as I have no clue what to expect.

Got the results of the needle biopsy yesterday. I have the T790m mutation so will be starting on Tagrisso. There is a clinical trial starting for a drug targeting the T790m mutation but it's about 3 weeks out for getting patients signed up and it will be phase 1. My oncologist didn't want to put off starting something now.
