Don't be scared, trust God. Keep a positive attitude, even though sometimes that is hard to do. We are all here for you. Nancee

@KarynBrow49 Oh sweetheart I know it's asking a lot we were all emotional and to a certain amount afraid. We still are to a certain extent. I don't think the emotional goes completely away and as far as being afraid that's normal. Cancer is scary stuff. Please try not to be afraid we will all be there with you in your mind. So if you Need to cry go ahead. But we are with you just close your eyes and we will be there. so try not to be afraid. if you need to talk i'm here for you,so are the others. You'll never feel a lone again. Freetobreathe/Healthunlocked is a great lung cancer site. Everyone here is just wonderful and they will be here for you. Jo

my hasban has SCLC - ext, he's doing the 2nd cycle of chemo. I guess yours is NSCLC.

You need to inquiry about immunotherapies, nivolumab / keytruda. And there are some others mainly in the US.

It is scary and absolutely normal for you to be afraid. What helped me was knowing that everything I was going to go through was for my survival. There are many people here surviving years and going through chemo, radiation and surgery. Most do come with side effects, but being able live another day far outweighs the side effects. This is the best place to come for support everyone is very caring and understanding.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. The only advice I can give is to pray and have faith that God is in control of you, the disease and the doctors. He is the great physician and will carry you through this.

I'm not going to lie to you and tell you it's going to be easy because it isn't. Pray a lot and stay as positive as you can. If you're not already attending a church, start now because there are a lot of compassionate people who would encourage you and help you in any way possible.

God bless you through this journey.

Hi Karyn! my dad was diagnosed this past summer with lung cancer.. I too know the feelings your going through. I remind him everyday of how strong he is. Do your best to be positive and tell yourself you will get through this!! God is way bigger than cancer !

I am so sorry you're going through this. This is a truly devastating diagnosis as too many of us know first hand on this site. (I am 45, stage 4 nsclc diagnosed in April 2015.) It's OK to be emotional and to cry to be frightened. But with all of that, you must be strong at the same time, be your own advocate, ask questions, believe that you can do what you need to do to survive and even thrive. This site can help you know what to expect...the fears and imaginings are often a result of "not knowing." We cannot know it all, but there are many things that are truths that are not as bad as the things you imagine in the dark at night. For example, you cannot know how your cancer will respond to chemotherapy, but you can learn from us what side effects we have experienced from the therapy to give you better information to know what you will face and what strength you need to use. I will pray for you. Please reach out when you need

Karyn -- I am also battling Stage IV Lung Cancer (Diagnosed on 3/27/15), so I can truly understand your fears and concerns. It can be very overwhelming in the early days - so much information to take in and terms that will all be new and unfamiliar to you. You are very wise to have joined a cancer support community and I hope you'll be very comfortable here and feel free to post any questions or comments you may have.

I also wish you the very best and hope you'll do very well with your treatments. There are many of us fighting hard and more and more Stage IV Cancer is now being considered a "Chronic" yet, treatable illness.

~ Lisa

PS: Try not to use "Dr. Google" for information - Much of that is posted online is already outdated = There have been so many new treatments developed in the last year or two and the continue to come up with new research and options every day.

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 nsclc last February. He is also got a diagnosis of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.

He has been though various types of chemo, and tried immunotherapy. It's been an emotional roller coaster and most often when I see him I know behind his smile he's hiding pain. He is on a good path right now, tolerating chemo and just got great news from his latest PET scan.

It's a scary, uncertain road but we trust his doctors, we trust whatever higher being there may be out there and don't take a day for granted.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 NSC lung cancer in 2013 and I have had good CT scans for a year and a half. No active cancer! So there is definitely hope!

It is scary but try to remain positive, believe you will be OK. Romans 12:12. You can do this!
