Sad Saturday, woke up early could hardly get out of bed. Chemo has wracked my body, I'm tired very tired, throat is sore from radiation therapy gets worse every day. Sometimes I sit and wonder is it really worth it.

I'm so sorry. I've been through it too and chemo takes it toll on you. Don't push yourself, listen to your body. Rest will help you get through each day. You really need to take one day at a time. Chemo drained me too and the nausea was really bad at times. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. When the chemo is done, within a few weeks you will start to feel better.

Just remember, take one day at a time.

Collinjo1 - First off, of course it is worth it. The only other option would not be something anyone of us would want to think about. Just remember, each day is important, and all things will pass given enough time.

I went through radiation and chemo for HPV Throat Cancer starting in September 2014. By the middle of October I had given up on trying to eat, and had a feeding tube inserted down through my nose and down my throat. After pulling the feeding tube out for the second time, I told my doctors I was done, and they did not have my permission to insert another feeding tube.

They told me they understood, and then told my wife I probably had less than a week to live. I was not eating, and had only a half a cup of water the previous 4 days. I was done, the pain was unbearable. I had already lost 65 pounds, and I no longer cared about living. The doctors said I could live without food, but not long without water. It hurt that much.

Three nights later I had a dream. I dreamt I was eating a Jimmy Dean sausage and egg croissant and when I woke up, I waited for my wife to wake up and asked her to get me one. She had heard me ask for all kinds of things, that I eventually could not eat, in the previous week but she found our last one in the freezer and made it.

I had not taken a pain killer since they were going in through my feeding tube, that was no longer there, but when my wife brought it out, I simply grabbed it, took a huge bite and started to chew. My body just reacted the way it was made to react, it tried to swallow and through incredible pain, I was able to swallow that first bite. I looked at my wife, she looked at me, and I took another bite, and swallowed it. I then asked for pain killers, and finished off the sandwich, and flushed down the pain killers with a 20 ounce bottle of water. Followed by two more bottles of water.

It still hurt like hell, and I would still have issues eating, but at least I was not in danger of dying by my own hands. And as Steph60 said, take one day at a time, and allow me to add, take one bite at a time as well.

Keep up the fight, you will get there, just take it as it comes and just know deep down inside, you will get through this. Time does not wait for anyone, and Thanksgiving Dinner is not too far away, but far enough away for you to know, or should know, you will be able to enjoy dinner just like any other year.

Keep us posted.... we are ALL pulling for you
