I am so sorry to hear your news.  You must be devastated right now but have courage, this doesn't have to be the end of the road.  Whilst you might not feel like it at the moment, if you are proactive about it, you can learn to manage your condition.

My husband controlled his through exercise and got down to about 1 fit a year.

There are others who control it through diet medscape.com/viewarticle/83....  Do an internet search for 'lchf epilepsy'.   This should bring up links for dietdoctor.com, which has anecdotal evidence of people becoming fit-free with LCHF, and ketogenic diet as well as the one I have just posted.

Diet, for you, has now become fairly important anyway.  Unfortunately people with epilepsy can have a predisposition toward high blood pressure and diabetes.  Again you will find anecdotal evidence of controlling these through low carb diets.

Best of luck.  And please believe me that the future is not all black.

just an addendum to what I was saying earlier about diet.  I was doing some research for a friend with MS when I came across Dr Terry Wahls, she is an American medical specialist who developed MS herself and ended up in a wheelchair.  Though gradually deteriorating she was not prepared to sit back and give up.  She developed an interest in diet as medicine and went on to develop her own protocol based around a paleo diet.  Within 12 months she had gone from being basically unable to move to doing a 20 mile bike ride with her family.  I mention this simply to show you what can be achieved by diet (you can find lots of video stuff by and about her on youtube youtube.com/watch?v=Eer1AFB...

So the reason I brought this up was my earlier comment about keto diet.  Dr Wahls has gone on to develop a modified MCT keto diet that you would find easier, certainly to start with, should you decide to go down that road.  I came across a discussion about it here phoenixhelix.com/2014/03/16... and a podcast debate with Paul Jaminet here hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/a/c/4/ac....
