Focalin comedown
My son (11) has been on
Focalin
XR
for about 2 months (5mg the first month - no effect, and now 10mg). We've noticed that around 7pm, he often can get super down and sad. It's not every night, but it's at least a couple times a week.

Exhausted..
Focalin
XR
low dose increased to 15 mg and then 5 mg at lunch, worked for a week and then the wheels fell off and his anger issues were terrifying. Switched to Vyvanse and that made anger even worse.

Having trouble with right med combo for 11 year old son.
He is currently on
Focalin
XR
(15 mg) right before school and short acting
Focalin
after school (7.5 mg), We have found that the long acting Focalin does not seem to last more than 5 hours and the short acting lasts 2 hours max.

Irritability in the evenings
I’m on
Focalin
XR
(was on Concerta but switched because it was such a pain tracking the Concerta down). I think the Concerta was slightly better at helping me through the transition but the Focalin is fine otherwise. I take the pill at 7 ish, so clearly it’s wearing off by 6.

New ADHD diagnosis for my 6 year old girl
Today we started her on
Focalin
XR
and I’m not really sure what to expect. I’ve read things where parents say that how much meds helped their kiddo. Was it an overnight difference? Did you have to work up to a dose?

National Shortage
I first heard that it was adderall and my son wasn't being affected because he takes
Focalin
xr
. Last time refill they could only give me 20 instead of 30. I called right now to possibly up my sons dose and the ped said now all adhd meds are having shortage issues.

However, now they have bumped his medicine and changed to the generic of
Focalin
10mg
XR
. His behavior at home is outrageous. He is lying, saying very nasty and inappropriate things, whining, crying, destroying things. I assume it comes from the Defiant Disorder.

10 year old refuses ADHD diagnosis and medication
She had a hard time initially dealing with the diagnosis, then came around a bit and was taking
Focalin
XR
. We saw a lot of improvements in attention and executive function, especially in school . After the holiday break, she dug her heels in, and is back to refusing her diagnosis and medications.

Hello. I have my 8 y/o daughter who is currently on Focalin 20 mg and Prozac 20 mg. Prozac was increased 2 wks ago to 20 mg. Her mood got worse and she wrote a suicidal note. Hello Everyone
Hello, I'm Lauryn, and I recently joined this online forum. I am a mother and a woman in long-term recovery. I have been dealing with various mental health challenges, including ADHD. About a year ago, I enrolled in college, so I started taking medication for ADHD, which has been incredibly helpful.

Changing medication?
Our kiddo has been on Focalin for about four years now and has great success at school. We struggle so much in the mornings (prior to taking meds) , and it has been getting worse. It’s to the point where it’s affecting my other children, and frankly myself and my mental well-being. I’ve been reading

Stopping Focalin cause DD says it’s makes her grumpy
My daughter (13) has been taking Focalin for about a year on school days for adhd Inattentive type. Her main issue is forgetfulness: forgetting assignments, and forgetting where she puts stuff. She’s nearly always missing something like a sweatshirt, etc. Anyway, the medicine doesn’t make a noticeable

8 yr Old Focalin = increased impulsivity
Hi everyone, I finally got my wife to get our son on a stimulant, Focalin, but it increased his impulsivity; we noticed and so did his teacher. He was on Focalin for 2 weeks and then we noticed a large increase in impulsivity. He has been off it for 3 weeks and the impulsivity is much less being off

Adderall and night waking
Hi! We recently switched my son from Focalin to Adderall. This is the first time switching from methylphenidate to amphetamine for him. He has always been a pretty good sleeper. Since starting the Adderall he can fall asleep fine but has each night woken at midnight and again around 4am. Not hyperactive

Gutted and alone
I found CHADD at 3am this morning and decided to post here as a bit of therapy to a group that may just "get it". I'm as low as I've ever been. I love my children fiercely but motherhood is uncomfortable sometimes, to say the least. My 13yo son was diagnosed 5 years ago with ADD. He's also tested as

Generic Vyvanse
Has anyone switched to this yet, who was previously on the brand name version? If so, does it work similar to the brand name in terms of efficacy? Any different side effects? Is the texture similar when you go to mix it with yogurt, etc? My daughter has been on brand name Vyvanse for a few years now

9 1/2 year old with anxiety and possible adhd
we have tried stimulants (
focalin
xr
), but it didn’t really seem to help. Mostly what we saw was increased agitation, restlessness, and he was withdrawn and emotional. We see a psychiatrist in a few weeks to figure out the next steps.

First day on meds - jittery?
Just completed day 1 of dexmethylphenidate
xr
10mg (generic for
focalin
xr
). I haven't taken ADHD meds before. Is it normal to feel jittery? I felt like how I am when I drink too much coffee (which I am sensitive to, to begin with).
