Hi. I have Complex regional pain syndrome. And I was explained how my symptoms are in my head and was presribed antidepressants. When I wanted to stop them after few months of not helping me I developed horrific withdrawal and neurological damage( withdrawal activates glutamate- exitotoxic, neuroinflamatory neurotransmitter). Coming back on them caused advrese reaction and even more damage especially with my eyes with visible "organic" changes in retinography, video nystagmography etc. So I am posting here to share awareness that AD can be toxic and that your doctor is not familiar with that. AD can downregulate your serotonin metabolism and when you will decide to stop them you can develop long lasting, years of withdrawal inflammation sickness. They are extremly addictive( without your wish to take them). your doctor probably will not know how to recognize withdrawal and will probably tell you that you are crazy, psychosomatic etc. Please before taking any AD read everything you find from dr.Peter Breggin, prof.David Healy, Ann Blake Tracy,dr.Kelly Brogan,dr.Peter M....Share awareness because feedback information do not come to your doctor. Your doctor is educated about AD from pharmaceutical companies representator, and lots of them do not know even that withdrawal exist and can last for 5-10 years. The only safe way to get off from them is 2-10% down per month, even that can be severe problem. Antidepressants will not cure you. After my toxic experience with them I have started researching about FDN and my disease and guess what I find, doctors that now swears that CRPS has nothing to do with functional"conversion" disorder but instead talking about auto neuroinflamation and treatment with imunno therapy. So be careful in accepting "conversion" psychosomatic theory.

In those years of researching I didn't find one person who is cured from FND with psychiatrist. You can be cured with neuroplasticity training but not with psycho bullshit talking or psycho toxic drugs. Actually there is even more possibility that you can not get better if you re taking psycho drugs because your natural way of neuroplasticity and homeostasis could be inhibit by supstance. If Parkinson disease symptoms could be retrained ( Norman Doidge book) then your disease is not less "organic" disease because it is treatable with neuroplasticity training. If you look in the past lots of disease in their "beginnings" were consider "hysterical" until diagnostic tests were develop to the level where disease is "anatomically" detectible. I completely agree that "functional" disorders exist, but I completely disagree with name, stigma and correlation with "conversion". In order to delete stigma from people that name must be deleted. People already suffer enough, putting stigma on them can not make them get better, doesn't nobody care about that huge aspect of patient self image?!

Ps.I Apologize for not good english
