Initial diagnosis and FND discovery

After suffering for years and being constantly dismissed as anxiety, I finally got to see a neurologist. I had an MRI recently which didn't show much so got a referral from my GP to a neurologist. They said my MRI and all strength tests, neuro examinations are all fine. They told me about FND. It's the first I have heard of it after years of suffering and progressive decline in motor function, dizziness and unsteadiness. I have seen numerous Physchiatrists and doctors.over the years who have all diagnosed panic disorder and anxiety. I have explained countless times these sensations and attacks are NOT anxiety but they wouldn't listen. Finally I have seen a neurologist who has finally given.me a little hope. I am just concerned that their findings are going to be ignored by my GP and I won't get an official diagnosis. I tick every box for diagnosis and I'm keen to not get lumped panic and anxiety the rest of my life. I would welcome any advice and support.

Just been diagnosed myself with similar story. Just trying to get my head round it. It seems from what I can see FND is a catch all for people who's symptoms cannot be explained as tests are normal and that in some circles it's perceived as a mental health condition. At the moment I'm not sure if this diagnosis is a help or a hindrace. I've been offered Duloxetine. Considering that. Amitriptyline was good but I had to stop it as I have LQTS.

I have been offered amitriptyline as well. Regarding it being a mental health condition, I have done a lot of research and it clearly isn't a mental health condition. Anxiety isn't a mental health condition in my opinion. It is a fear disorder. My anxiety has never been so good thanks to course I did. But the neurological symptoms are worse not better. It is not mental health as far as I am concerned. I saw a good neurologist who explained it very well to me and expressed his frustration at not yet understanding the full cause and treatment.
