I suffer from cauda equina syndrome from January 2014 since then I keep having flare up the first one left me with left arm weakness and eye drop which I still have my last flare up caused no reflex in arm face droop severe headache dizziness etc the doctors at the hospital said it MIGHT be FUNCTIONAL and left it at that I'm still suffering arm/grip weakness face droop eye droop etc I want to know if this is functional and why is it when I have flare ups I'm left with permanent problems does anyone else have this problem

Hi Clare

There is definitely a link between chronic pain and FND, so the symptoms you have could indeed be FND. It may be worth your while getting your GP to refer you to neurology again so that you can get a more definite diagnosis.
