I'm happy to say my cystoscopy and ultrasound checks were all clear. Big relief and good to know the mitomycin therapy and plant based diet are working.

Best wishes to all and hope you get good news too soon!

PaMul - excellent news which must have come as such a relief for you.

My op is next Monday but the whole week has been fraught with hospital appointments every day, including an emergency renal appointment as at pre-op they found that my sole kidney function had suddenly dropped from 38% to just 28%. Panic stations all round but the renal consultant found it was starting to pick up again in the latest blood test when I saw him. He said the culprit was 3 days of Trimethoprim last week. The urologist had since put me on Nitrofurantoin until the surgery to treat any infection otherwise the op can't go ahead. However, the renal consultant said that the Nitro was the wrong AB for the bacteria present and switched me back to Trimethoprim until Monday, at a larger dose so wonder what the heck will happen to my kidney function between now and then, but he said it "almost always" restores to normal eventually after stopping the Trimethoprim - I have everything crossed that I can cross but am sure to be a nervous wreck by Monday!

Everything is crossed for you that it all turns out well. Sounds extremely challenging and nerve wracking. Good luck tomorrow (or next Monday?). Keep us posted we'll be thinking of you.

PaMul, Pleased you had good news about your latest cystoscopy.

My first 3 month check up was last week was clear but I do worry that I didn't have a chemo wash or anything. Next test is in December

Thank you! I was very glad to hear your all clear. It never stops being nerve wracking, does it? Let's hope it stays that way! Do you have any treatment in between?

Best wishes and all the best

Hi PaMul,

I have had no treatment at all.

I had my first cystoscopy end of January which showed suspect tumour. (No one was expecting this as it was just a routine non urgent cystoscopy after seeing a urologist early December)

I had a biopsy done in February when they removed the tumour - which was low grade non invasive - but had no chemo wash or any treatment since.

When I asked the consultant why I hadn't been given a chemo wash he said they really hadn't expected cancer.

So I was very pleased that my first check up was clear.

So I now wait for December's check up.

I have never had blood in my urine so wouldn't know what symptoms to look out for.

Best wishes

Celtic, Very interesting to read about trimethoprim lowering kidney function - I take one tablet at night as a preventive dose. My eGFR was decreasing before I started but I will certainly be more aware and monitor.. Thanks very much.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Best wishes

Congrats! Keep up the good work. Staying away from sugar the food for cancer is so key. Less acidic and more alkaline the body the better. Not too alkaline though.

What is a chemo wash I am having my third tumour out of my bladder soon and think this wash could help from coming back??

Hi Iffette2

I hope the operation goes well and the results are low grade. I believe there are a couple of washes one can have to prevent tumours returning (as far as possible). One a chemo one often Mitomycin and the other BCG. Which one and how often depends on the grade and stage. Hope that helps.

Best wishes and all the best
