Hello all, I'm 33 yrs old female. I've suffered urinary retention for a number of years, especially after sustaining an injury after child birth. (Another story) I've finally been having it looked into, had bladder and kidney scan recently. At a follow up with gp she asked to take urine sample to send off as I had trace blood in previous sample. She called last night to say there's further trace blood in urine. And can I provide a further sample, unfortunately I'm gonna have to wait to give another sample as it's my time of month but when I asked what it could mean and why they need further she said it's a symptom of bladder cancer and possibly inflammation etc.. obv I have no infection as this would have flagged up. I'm starting to wonder if the urinary retention going on for so long untreated could be a factor in causing b.c obv I'm concerned but don't want to jump to conclusions, these things take a while to sort especially as I have to wait just to provide a sample. She said if there's blood in further sample they may speed up my urologist appointment and have a camera look around in there for clues.. anyone had experience of urinary retention?
