A new study reveals how a clotting protein and blood platelets can promote cancer progression and suppress immune responses to cancer

I believe my amigo Nalakrats has stressed the importance of this and may weigh in on this one... Ohio State University researchers show how Thrombin, a clotting protein causes blood platelets to release TGF-b1which is known to cause progression in prostate cancer and suppress immune system responses to cancer...

sciencedaily.com/releases/2...

Key findings include:

•Thrombin cleaves a molecule called GARP (glycoprotein A repetitions predominant) that is found on the surface of platelets;

•GARP cleavage leads to the release of mature TGF-1b from platelets;

•This cleavage is required to activate platelet TGF-b1;

•Blocking thrombin using the inhibitor dabigatran etexilate greatly altered the tumor microenvironment and increased the number and activity of tumor-infiltrating T cells, natural killer cells and neutrophils.

The Science is Coming !!! Come on....SCIENCE !!!!

"Overall, our study reveals a mechanism of cancer immune evasion that involves thrombin-mediated GARP cleavage and the release of TGF-b1 by platelets," Li says. "It also suggests that blocking GARP cleavage could be an effective therapeutic strategy for overcoming cancer's resistance to immunotherapy."

A case of The Cancer World According To GARP.

As always, Thanks for the Science, Fish.

With Pradaxa already on the market, I am surprised that they are not trying some of the immunotherapy trials with Pradaxa to get more "bang for the buck" ...it is something to keep in mind for things like APCEDEN or other vaccines...Thanks for the reply...

My Stress was NEGATIVE.... no cardiac cath for this Fish...

K9 Captain,

I may have to go get an early license as it has been reasonably warm for winter...50's-60's....if the rain would just let the water clear for a few days....

Oral administration of Nattokinase has shone thru papers in the dozens published in Japan, that this enzyme--->inhibited both the Collagen and Thrombin induced platelet aggregation. This means that Nattokinase not only inhibits blood clotting triggered by Thrombin, but also blocks TXA-2 and TXB-2 blood factors--->these have been found in significant numbers in Tumors, when compared to Normal Tissues. In Colon Cancer they were exceedingly high.

Fish was right that I would probably add my name to the benefits of both Nattokinase and Serrapeptase. And not only I, but Patrick has written often on this enzyme, and its benefits.

These benefits are for both Heart Health, and Cancer.

Is this one of the reasons I have an undetectable C-Reactive Protein[inflammation]---could be?

Nalakrats

It is why I take Dr.'s Best NattoSerra daily... Trying to cover as many angles as possible... Had a single vessel CABG in 2012-- Recent t Stress test result--Negative and hoping to keep it that way...

Thanks for the reply...

Fish

Was it the left side or right side? Happy to participate.

Nal.

Nal,

It was the LAD--left anterior descending and it was 99% occluded in 1 area, 90% in another, and 85% in a 3rd...I did NOT have an MI by the grace and mercy of God...On a Friday afternoon, after my cardiac catheterization, they said..."We would put you on the operating table right now, but we do not have staff now...On Monday morning, you will have open heart surgery.. Don't do anything strenuous--sit at home..."-- and I did.... LIMA bypass graft... Quite the story... God is not done with me here yet...

Fish

Or me. I actually died for 4 minutes in 1993--they had a sheet over me--and were wheeling me to the Morgue--when I awoke---the rest of the story, I only tell in Congregations, when asked to speak/give a sermon. Not to soon after I started Natto.

Nalakrats

You--Dead and Me--Near Dead with a fatal MI---they call the LAD MI's--"The Widowmaker" as people routinely fall into fatal arrhythmias when they occur...

As I frequently tell people, I have evaded Death a number of times including a car crash where the rear end of my car was driven up to the back of my driver's seat and I was hit by multiple vehicles, including the finale of a Cadillac Escalade smashing into the driver's door knocking me unconscious... I awoke to the gentle call of ,"Hey Buddy, Are you ok?? " and crawled across the front seat to the passenger door slowly as fuel leaked out on the road all around the vehicle...

I guess we are here for a reason, Nal....

Fish

Yes we are, and I cannot get it thru your head what your purpose is. Which is to reach as many people that you can help.

Nalakrats

My head is like a sieve on ADT.....ideas come and go.... actually, I found Taurine is helping that quite a bit... You are a Taurine fan as well I believe... I do know what my purpose is and why I am here....there are numerous reasons and things to accomplish ...

I monitor what goes on at APC, despite not participating.... In the meantime, I continue to work and do the research and bring the science... as I say...

The Science is Coming...and it gives us....HOPE !!!!

Never heard of snakeheads and had to look them up:

Freezing snakeheads is a way to assure they’re dead -- sort of like shooting zombies in the head. They are voracious eaters of other fish, birds and mammals, and have an otherworldly ability to survive on land for up to four days, experts say.

If you are referring to the Dr's Best Nattoserra then I take it daily-- at night and Aspirin 2x a day...the person to ask more on this issue would be Nalakrats as he is the best read on supplements.... The label states no established daily doseage...Hope this helps...
