I was given Docetaxel, as soon as I was diagnosed. It was very effective in driving down my PSA from 681 to about 12 after six mounts of treatment. My oncologist went to another drug before the cancer figured this one out. The strategy was to have it available later. 2 1/2 years into my treatments were running out of options and went back to the drug. It reduced the PSA again but only by about 15%. then things flattened out. After six more treatments I was taken off, and I am now looking for other options. Heading to a clinical trial of LU-177. Hope to be randomized.

Docetaxel will almost certainly create or increase neuropathy in feet and hands. And it can cause considerable damage to fingers and toes to the point that the nails get discolored, can hurt and can come of. Scary but manageable!!. Ice your feet and hands to gat them cold just before the infusion and keep then iced for at least 12 hours. Do not believe the nurse or doctor that icing during infusion is adequate. IT IS NOT!!!

If you want more on this subject please let me know.

Best to you all,
