Hi Mary

Burning sensations can be nerve pain, treatable with regular amytriptiline or gabapentin medication. Mine have reduced since starting gabapentin. xx

Maybe a soothing lotion would help? Calendula cream is very good, and won't do any harm, or even calamine, which is at least very cooling.

There's a very good lotion you can get on prescription called 'Double Base' which is excellent for very dry skin conditions. You can even apply it before going into the shower so that the water does not dry that area of skin further. You could also try aqueous cream which you can get from the chemist - it comes in large pots and is very cheap.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I use aqueous cream as Sandy suggests which is very cheap. However even better. but more expensive at £13 a tub, is Body Shop's Shea Butter which is a very luxurious moisturiser. The nurse at my surgery recommended it as I get the "ants crawling under the skin" feeling especially at night and I would wake myself up tearing at my skin. Since using this it has helped enormously.

At the moment I seem to be getting bitten by something so that is driving me mad. I don't know what is biting me as both our dogs and both our cats are regularly de-flead. I wonder if something is crawling into my boots when we are out walking the dogs in the fields.

I have a bite under the sole of my foot and one on the side of my foot which are really itchy. last night I must have spent about an hour tearing at my foot till it was red and inflamed. then the burning was driving me mad!

Sooooooooo Motzie I can sympathise with how you are feeling. It is a bummer isn't it?

take care. Gentle hugs Saskia XX
