Good morning all. Does anyone in the Derby area know why we have only received 2 cold weather payments. It starts in Nov and ends 31st Mar I think but surely we have had more below zero periods than that.

Thanks my fibro buddies

Yes we have but it has to stay below zero for a full week day and night, if it has risen above that if only for an hour then you wont get a cold weather payment.

I know about the little 'get out' excuses they have but either last year or the year before (memory stuff) we got 4 or 5 (memory stuff) payments. Thanks for replies my fibro friends and other friends too

Can you please tell me how you apply for cold weather payments. If i apply now will it be back dated or start from coming November.

Thanks x

They will come to you automatically if you are eligible. If you google cold weather payments dwp it gives you the eligibility criteria and if it turns out that you should be getting it then contact jobcentre and they will correct it. I am afraid I don't know if it will be back dated. It only runs from Nov to Apr

Good luck

Also dont know how many of you know about the warm home discount run by the different providers. If you are on certain benefits you can apply directly to your gas/electric company. If you qualify they will make a one off payment (think it was £130 this year) into your gas/electric account. I think it might have finished now for this year but one to be looking out for next winter.
