Hi, just been diagnosed with TN and have started Tegratol a week ago, does anyone know if TN helps in the battle for ESA etc.? What category is it physical or mental? Many thanks for any advice XH x

Hello, not sure about whether it helps with your battle for ESA but it is definatly physical not mental. What I do know is that it's terribly painful.

Sorry I can't offer any more advice, but send good wishes your way. Foggy x

No Foggy I stole it off the web, the image not the guinea pig that it, I did write you a reply but it seems to have gone to the world where Fibro & TN were invented, but thank you again for the advice. XH xx

Aww I just guineas, I hate one as a child that followed me everywhere, about two feet behind me, she never ran away, she was fab, if I didn't have terriers with one track minds I would love another...aaahh

Back to your question tho, I was offered gamma knife treatment abut 5 years ago but was too frightened to take it, mine has subsided thank goodness, but it comes back occasionally, but thankfully seems to subside........long may it continue ! Foggy x

Glad to hear yours has subsided that does really give me hope, I know my journey with this has only just begun. I am not sure if I could face invasive surgery either, my head only just functions now. I too had a guinea pig with rosettes all over him really pretty but he didnt live to long but on again to another,,,,lol XH xx

I'm sure that with other factors it would be considered. It's definitely physical, as it is an inflammation of the Trigeminal nerve. A very painful disorder, indeed!

Best of luck with your ESA application

Here is some info on Benefits:

Do you have the Benefits & Work guides?

TN is definitely physical, but may have mental effects as well (as any chronic or severe medical condition can do).

Hi Lindsey thank you for the link I will definately keep it, I do have the guides now, but unfortunately when I completed my ESA50 last March I didnt know they exsited still I will keep fighting on waiting for a reconsideration then on to appeal, was placed in the WRAG group in Dec 2012, but have to try for the support group what ever it takes. Thank you once more XH xx
