I had to phone the CAB this morning with an enquiry about my up coming ATOS medical - you must come in and sign a form for ongoing support as after April any legal aid is being withdrawn UNLESS you have an existing/ongoing cases. Please be aware and check especially if you have a tribunal imminent x

Legal Aid that goes alongside CAB helping with appeals etc
I went to CAb on Monday about appealing DWP decision. I was given appointment for two weeks time but was told no one from CAB would be able to go to the appeal with me. Is this the norm, as I'll be a blubbering wreck if I get to the appeal. I've enclosed link from CAB about " From April 2013 legal aid advice on all welfare benefit matters will be abolished. This includes advice on how to challenge unfair or wrong decisions on inaccurate assessments of personal circumstances made by the Department of Work and Pension (DWP) or HMRevenues and Customs Tax Credit Office.

Thank you mo1967, I'll ask about signing form for ongoing support when I go for appointment.
AFAIK the CAB is a charity organisation, how can they withdraw legal advice. Their whole ethos is based on advising people of their rights.
Esagestapo - just reporting what the man who is helping me from the CAB told me on Tuesday x
I appreciate what you are saying Mo1967, it looks like another charity organisation has been bought off by the government, and explains why the CAB are now doing the job that Trading Standards used to do.
