What fresh hell??????

I have been suffering at night for a long time with problems in my ankles/feet. They swell so much and when i get up through the night (many times!) they are huge, it feels like my skin is stretched to capacity! It isnt painful but it is uncomfortable and its starting again now as i write this......imy ankles/feet were'nt this swollen when i was 9 months pregnant during a heatwave carrying a 10lb 10oz baby boy!!!!!!!!

I am fairly sure this is water retention but am not too clued up on it to be honest....do any of my lovely fibro family have this problem? xx

Oh, and do you have swelling anywhere else - hands, face?

yes moffy, in my fingers/hands..... xx

When I wake up in the morning my fingers are read and swollen and curled in on themselves I now leave the washing up till morning as I find the warm water helps and about an hour after getting up they go down,

Please as it's new get it checked out by your GP could be one of your meds causing it could be something totally unfibro, please see your GP

Hmmm - you need to see your doc, because you might have a kidney problem.

Don't get alarmed, it's probably just fluid retention brought on by too little rest, and rather oddly, from not drinking enough. If you don't drink sufficient fluid, your body will try to conserve water in your tissues, resulting in swelling.

Try drinking a bit more water, but I think you should check with your doctor just to be safe, because kidney problems need treatment pretty quickly, otherwise you can become very poorly!

Let me know how you get on - I hope you feel better soon!

Tachycardia is an abnormally fast heartbeat. Are you experiencing this too?

I do drink a lot of water, in fact i drink more than anyone i know, i dont go anywhere without a bottle of water in m bag but i put that down to the meds...especially gabapentin, it seems to make me so thirsty all the time. I have severe problems swallowing food too cos my mouth doesnt seem to produce enough saliva to help food go down xx

Definitely see your doctor about this.

It sounds like you may have lymphoedema. I have that in both legs and my right arm. Water tablets will not do anything to reduce the swelling. My legs swell incredibly, so much so that it's very difficult to walk at all sometimes. A referral from your doctor will get you to the right place. You can tell if it's lymphoedema by pressing the legs for a few seconds. If you're left with a 'pit', I mean if the leg hasn't returned to normal, then it's lymphoedema. This can't be cured but it can be well managed. Good luck!! XX

Came very late to the tail end of this thread - I hope you've seen your GP by now, Charlii, and hopefully he will have found nothing worse than 'dependent oedema' the sort of swelling we can all get if we're overtired and haven't had our feet up.

catch up with you later! xxx

Ah - 'tachycardia' means a rapid heart rate.

This is not an illness in itself, but a symptom. Sometimes it just means that you're nervous or angry - we all get a rapid heartbeat in these circumstances, and that's normal.

If a person has constant tachycardia, it's best to find out what's causing it as it can be a sign of anaemia, infection or heart and lung problems.

Mostly, it's just a reaction to stress.

Hope this helps! :)
