My Dr has just given me Pregabalin as the Dihydracodeine is no longer working.I have seen many different reviews and I know this question has been asked a lot but any comments would be gratefully received.

Its is sat on my coffee table waiting to be started but I do not know enough yet and I do like to know what I might be getting into. I would love to hear about your progress.

Pregabalin (Lyrica) can be a very effective medication for Fibromyalgia and many people here in our forum take it. We all tend to react differently to our meds so we can't recommend it personally for any one person. We are all different, have different symptoms, level of pain etc., so all these things can affect a medication's effect. Also we tend to have different side effects from our meds as we all react differently.

There is more info about Pregabilin here for you if you click on the link -

patient.co.uk/medicine/Preg...

"Pregabalin is also used either alone or alongside other medicines to treat certain types of long-lasting pain caused by damage to nerves. This type of pain, called neuropathic pain, can be caused by a number of different conditions"

I hope you find this helpful. Please give your new med time to kick in to full effect and if you are concerned about anything, please speak to your GP about this.

Hi all, i take pregabalin it was prescribed by the pain clinic, my dr was shocked i was taking it

as it costs £100-00 a box, as i told her the pain clinic gave it to me, nothing else was said, it takes the edge of the pain along with tramadol and other tablets plus, lack of sleep is nearly as bad as the pain, hey ho better off than some, have a great day hugs to the bits that don't hurt, lol................... I was prescribed it in November. The initial side effects were awful. Made me feel falling over drunk but as week went on subsided. After that I started to feel better in myself and had pain reduction. However over Christmas I did too much so couldn't tell. It has so far been better than amitriptyline, that I was taking before. Hope it works for you too.

Hi

I was on Gabapentin for ages and the effects were getting less and less. My doc changed me over to Lyrica (Pregabalin) and along with co codomol and an antidepressant I feel alot better and I sleep better too.

I've recently switched from high doses of Gabapentin and Amitriptyline to pregabalin and nortriptyline on advise from the pain clinic and infact my pain consultant says together they are two of the best drugs for fibro. He wants me to get to 300 mg twice a day but already only having got as high as 100 mg twice a day so far i'm getting more relief than my gaba. It's a slow game increasing to the therapeutic dose but I myself are hopeful and positive about it. Go well XXX
