I am on painkillers but take sparingly due to finances. My rhrumi knows. I dont take tabs in day sghld I need to drive. Thanks for your help. Also sensitive to many medications. Been in S.A some med names differ.

Hello Chine, sorry to hear about your discomfort at night. I sympathise with your hip pain. Have you considered getting a memory foam mattress or mattress topper for your bed. The reason I mention this is because my mattress topper really helps me, it hugs your body and you sink into it as opposed to lying on a firm mattress. It's also warm and the warmth helps your pain.

It might be worth trying this as a non-medical attempt to try to help you.

Have you spoken to your GP about this, they might be able to help you with a suitable medication.

Hope this helps.

i suffer from really bad hip pain too. I have a memory foam mattress and it doesn't help, its driving me nuts, I never seem to be able to get comfortable for more than a few minutes so know where you are coming from. pain killers do nothing.

Dear KKnanny,

Have you ever tried using a prescribed pain relief cream called Capasacin Cream, I personally found it very helpful.

Capasacin cream is known to reduce Substance P , a substance which is excitable when you feel pain. Research has shown that people with Fibromyalgia have 3 times the amount of Substance P than healthy people do. I found it very beneficial and thought I would mention it out of interest. Link below

nhs.uk/medicine-guides/...

Please be careful if you are sensitive to medications as this is made from Capsicum pepper and must not go near your eyes as similar to police pepper spray. If you are sensitive to medications and experience side effects this may not be the pain relief cream for you.

Also some people find relief from taking a warm bath with Epsom Salts before bed, this may be of help too

As mentioned above Memory foam is very helpful to relieve the pressure also

I hope you find some relief and I wish you well.

No problems , but please be careful if you do consider trying the cream due to Fibromyalgia & it's sensitivities.

I have hip pain and also have full memory foam mattress. This helps but the only thing that really helps is tramadol for me.

You said about meds and not being able to afford them. If you are not exempt from paying through benefits, have you thought of a pre-payment card. I have one and pay £10.40 a month. Obviously on the medication amount some of us take, this saves a fortune as it is less than paying for 2 prescriptions a month.

I have a suggestion it relieves my hips and lower back. Place three pillows one on top of each othe at the head of your bed and two in front like an arm chair or a slight cross X position yourself in the middle and try sleeping almost sitting up but not quite. and place a pillow under your knees this certainly helps me rest good luck xgins

Hi I also suffer from unbearable hip pain . Mine started slowly last June but since apx Nov it has got worse. i find it almost impossible to walk any where due to the pain. My lovely GP sent me to a rheumatologist, back in November who, after hearing and seeing my reaction to him even touching my hip ,told me to ask the GP to give me morphine as he was not allowed to write a prescription for it.

I phoned my GP and he put me on MST twice aday and Oramorph four times aday. This is a lot of medicines but they do help a fair amount. It calms the pain down so it is bearable, but it doesn't take it all away. The nights are the worst for me as when I move in my sleep the pain wakes me up. I find that putting both legs up on to pillows the pain is lessened

I have a memory foam topper which I found did work so am now trying to save up for one

I hope you find someway either through medicines or pillows! to reduce your hip pain

Ps has anyone else been told there reflexes are too good and are hyperactive, as my rheumatologist has told me this and I don't know if it is good news or bad!
