I was awarded contribution based ESA at the beginning of August, and shortly afterwards I completed and returned the health questionnaire. To date (mid January) I have heard nothing about which group I am in, and am still receiving the basic £71 per week. From looking at other sites, they advise not to phone up with any queries, as this will be used as evidence that you are able to deal efficiently with matters via telephone, and thus lose you points. This is all new to me, and I wondered if it was normal for it to take so long to be allocated to your group? Thank you.

I would phone them and have often done so, by doing this I discovered that they had actually lost my ESA 50 form - so it is best to check as a long time has passed now, hopefully they will deal with it and let you know what is happening. Sometimes we can be too patient even though there is a backlog.
Hello there Ms2608, if you wish to telephone regarding your ESA claim, the contact telephone numbers are listed below -

It isn't at all unusual for weeks to elapse from sending your forms back. It can take 12 weeks sometimes, sometimes sooner, there is no set time frame to hear of the outcome.
If we can be of any help to you, please just ask. Happy to help where we can.
Wishing you all the best with your claim.
