muscle spasms in chest / ribs

im suffering with pains in my rib/chest area after having a muscle spasm. how long till the muscle heals and any advice on medication to as for from doctors to control the spasms.

Hi Kizzi i feel for you its so painful isn't it, i don't have any meds to take for it but then i haven't been to GP about it, i just use a hot water / micro bottle which helps.Sorry to have no real answer for you xx

Hello Kizzi, I agree with irisjoy, heat does work well the other thing that works for me is relaxation.

I`ve stopped talking to my GP about this sort of thing as he just says "oh dear me," every time with a sympathetic look on his face.

I get this a lot and I know just how painful it can be, coupled with Lung disease I am never actually sure what is causing it at the time. I do not take any medication for it, but I would speak to your GP if you feel the need to. I get spasms and cramps all over, often if I bend down to rub a calf spasm I will trugger spasms in the ribs. Not nice but the only other thing I can suggest hun is a warm soak in the bath and put some Radian-B in it if you can get some, It is good at helpingn the muscles to relax. xxxxx

Obviously all discussion is opinion and because of the potential possibilities regarding chest pain we would suggest talking to the GP about your symptoms for further treatment
