Things NOT to say to someone with a Disabling Chronic Condition:-

...But you don't look sick.... (Thanks i think!!)

...Everybody gets tired.... (What all day every day)

...Your just having a bad day... (Today, Tomorrow and the next day etc.)

...It must be nice not having to go to work... (Don't have a choice)

..If you'd get out more... (You gonna take me out)

...Your just getting older... (I know I look old but I'm not)

...If you'd get more exercise... (Find me a guy lol)

...It can't be that bad... (On a score of 10 ... it's 11+)

...It's all in your head... (How I wish)

...Your just depressed... (Already on Prozac)

...there are people worse of than you... (I know makes me cry)

...You'll just have to tough it out... (What like old boots)

...You just need a positive attitude... (Yes,Yes Yes, I know, doesn't work)

...This, too, will pass... (How the hell do you know?)

Yep totally get this! The one I get a lot from family is...if you just push through you'll eventually forget about it...

Now I suffer with memory loss but I don't think that bad lol

Thats funny do you live near me I ask myself ?,...............Coz everyone I meet say the same as the peple you meet lol..I sometimes wish they could walk in my moccasans for just a day !

Maybe we should all write in felt tip on our foreheads our hidden illnesses. Hehe wouldn't that be attractive (and long!) I'd need a bigger head lol

I'd need a bigger body and I've already got a body thats twice the weight it should be lol (have lost 2 stone in the last 11 months. only another 8 to go)

That's why it is so good to communicate with fellow sufferers! At least we don't make those comments, although some health professionals and partners sometimes do. I guess it is just very hard for a non-sufferer to have even the slightest awareness of what it is like.

One doc told me Fibro was a fancy name for none existent Arthritis. Does that make sense?

*snorts* Gee - I wish Fibro was short for something non-existent, cos then none of us would be in pain all the time.... grrrrrrrrrrr

Another doc told me it was all in my head. For years when i went to the doc they always said " Hello and whats wrong THIS TIME!!!". The consultant who diagnosed me (on the 24 dec) that i had to see my GP as he could do nothing for me. My GP was no help either....

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have experienced this sort of treatment...
