Hi

Has anyone tried the above for fibro as my GP says I've exhausted all meds and there are no more I can try so I keep trawling the net to try and find some myself and have come across this one, at the moment I am on 200mg of setraline and I take paracetamol which does nothing. Please if anyone has any advice it would help.

Thanks

Never heard of it for fibro, but my chap was on this in the first few days after his epidural was removed, post-abdominal surgery. It's apparently not used very often, but it is a good drug, and may work on persistent pain that other non-opiods aren't touching. Not sure if your GP will prescribe it for you, but it's worth a punt. xx

I personally have never heard of Nefopam being prescribed for Fibroymalgia. What meds have you actually been prescribed and taken before this point just out of curiosity. I find it difficult to believe (from your GP's point of view, not yours of course) that you have run out of med options.

About Nefopam -

Type of medicine - Analgesic (painkiller), used for pain relief, also called Acupan®, available as tablets. Nefopam is a painkiller which reduces moderate pain. It works by reducing the amount of pain you feel. Exactly how it does this is not fully understood although it is thought to interrupt the way pain messages are sent to your brain from your body.

It is used for dental pain, muscular pain, pain associated with cancer and for pain after surgery.

I wonder, have you been down the Co-Codamol route?!

Hi LibertyZ

I have tried Tramadol, Cymbalta, Gabapentin, Duloxetine, Pramipexole, Co-codamol, Naproxen(had a bad reaction to this) Amytryptiline don't know if I've forgotten any I can't think of anymore at the moment but I have read on the net of people being prescribed nefopram for fibro by a Doctor in a London clinic.

Thanks for posting Jiw, that is interesting!

Have you tried Methocarbamol?! Methocarbamol (also known as Robaxin - 750) is a medication which is used in relief of painful spasms caused by acute musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders, it is also prescribed as a muscle relaxant. I was prescribed this as well as Co-Codamol for pain relief.

I had seriously given up hope of any med "hitting the spot" as my pain was agony and I was desperate. My Rheumatologist prescribed Methocarbamol for me two years ago and I haven't looked back. I take two 750mg tablets and within one hour my pain has subsided and is manageable. I used to take Amitriptyline but not any more as my pain is well controlled, so I don't need it.

It might be worth suggesting Methocarbamol to your GP to see what they think of this as a suggestion. Obviously taking this would have to be compatible with your other meds and other illnesses or conditions you may have.

I hope you find comfort really soon, it can be so miserable can't it. Here's a hug (((hug))).

I have nefopam on prescription along with my other meds, but to be honest it doesn't really do much for the fibro pain

Hi. I have been taking nefopam and codeine for around a year. Sometimes it works sometimes i need to add ibuprofen to it. I also have osteoarthritis so am not always sure which 1 im treating. Do try it, maybe a combination with another drug may help. It helps me.

Good luck
