Friday at last.

Hello all to all my fibro buddies.

Yes it is Friday but for me, not because it is almost the weekend but because it is the last day before I start taking Lyrica. Having lost the benifits that Gabapentin was giving me (or so I thought) my lovely doctor agreed to let me try Lyrica. Over the last two weeks I have had to slowly decrease the amount of Gabapentin I have been taking (which was a lot) before I can start the Lyrica.

Well I take it all back about Gabapentin. It obviously was helping me ALOT. Over the first week slight pain and tiredness started to creep in. Then pains in my legs, arms and back, like someone had sliced me with a knife. Now the tiredness is almost unbearable. If left I would probabley sleep for 24 hrs bar the odd loo break. My high dose co codomol hardly touches the pain but I am trying so hard to carry on as much as I can. The last few days I have also been in a cold sweat nearly all day, which is a horrid feeling. I know some of it is withdrawal but also a lot is my many symptoms coming to the surface which is scarey as I was so sure I wasn't this bad.

So, roll on tomorrow and I just hope Lyrica works for me and kicks in quick.

Piggie hugs xxxx

I love the lyrica. It does really help. Came off it in January and had 8 weeks in bed. Was soon back on it and lead a normalish life. I still have good days and bad days and do get tired and fatigued but nowhere near as much. All the best :)

good luck, i have gone the otherway, i have come off lyrica as it did help fibro but the side effects were too many and too awful, i lost over a stone and am still recovering, my kidney tests are now normal again!!! so i have recently started gabapentin it seems there are less side effects and ppl stay long term ok on it. it seems gaba or pregab suit different ppl, i hope lyrica works for u just keep an eye for the side effects i left it ages before telling the dr about it and by then i had had recurrent infection etc and felt half dead!!!!!

its a hit n miss illness and sometimes u dont realise how much things help until u stop!!!

anyways big hugs and good luck, xxx

I was taking Lyrica and I didn't feel it did much for the FMS other than give me a slight sense of euphoria, the doctors said that they had never had that reaction before but that's what I felt. I'm not taking it now as I didn't feel any physical benefit from the pain with it.

Thanks all. As you say everyone reacts differently. I can't take Amitripyline as I turn evil. Having spent most of my working life in the pharmaceutical sector I know all about side effects :-)

I hope everyone has a reasonably pain free weekend.

Piggie hugs xxxxx

Wishing you the best of luck on Lyrica K, hope it all works out well for you! Hang on in there, it will get easier. Coming off a med is never easy especially when paving the way for another!

Here's some hugs for you (((hugs))) xx

I cannot fault Pregabalin (Lyrica) it has made such a difference I also have Amitripyline and morphine patch, plus paracetamol and morphine liquid prn. I often feel unable to drive and therefore resist but I am getting more able to do some of the driving when going on longer journeys .Fortunately my husband now is more willing to do the driving when I cannot. Just wish he would realise my difficulty at waking in the mornings bless him!
