Hi, I have Hypermobility was diagnosed years ago. Not told anything about it apart from don't work with your hands. Years on I'm much worse I now have mild arthritis as well. The thing is I'm getting that walking is a problem my mussels hurt everywhere, I find it hard to bend now. I'm I'll all the time and feel dozy. My doctors won't send me back to see the Rheumatologist saying I can just ask physio about my problems, but I find they don't know anything about my confusion. What can I do? I want to know if I have fibo as well as the hypo mobility.

Hello

Sorry your doctor isn't being very helpful. Have you looked at our main website? fibroaction.org/ There is loads of interesting info about fibro and might give you a better understanding as to whether you have it or not.

Sadly some doctors think they know it all but the term GP means general practitioner. They don't specialise in any one specific area which is why they should refer you to someone that does.

Maybe you need to go back armed with the info and insist they refer you. If the answer is still no, have a chat with the practise manager and see what they say.

Greetings,

I had the same issue with my GP (who's now retired yipppeee). It took months and a formal complaint to the practice manager and a report from my podiatrist in order to get a letter to book the appointment.

I was ready to change my GP then I heard he'd gone. The new one seems ok but we'll see.....

Good luck and keep persevering.

Blessed love xx

Good advice from Piggie; go and see another doctor in the practice and see if they will do a referal.

If that fails you could try a different practice or, if you can afford it, go to a private GP who can refer you back iinto the NHS to see a specialist.

All the best

I went private the first time because I was in so much pain I needed to know what was wrong and the waiting time was several months.. It was many years ago it was about £100, but he examined me and then put me on the nhs list for the next week for x rays so I jumped the queue and was diagnosed soon.

Other than that I agree with all of above and see another doc in practice if you can..xx

Same here Fibro, HyperMobility and Hypothyroid....but seriously...a rheumatologist can't do anything except say "Yes. You have it" and prescribe more drugs...I've been to 3 rheumatologists! Nothing comes of it.

They aren't looking at biochemistry or DNA. There is no answer and no cure ...

only pain medications.

Best to find a good Endocrinologist...and they are hard to find..

I stuck with one for 4 years..only to complain for 4 years about my slow weight gain. I kept asking..why do I eat under 1200 calories and day (some days 900) and I keep gaining weight. 170 lbs up to 222 in 4 years.. Even when I worked out..(5 months I took a hard core self defense class) gained 25 lbs in the last two months. I had to quit..it was doing a "job" on my knees.

I said something is wrong..I need to see someone else. Found a Dr. at Weil Cornell in NYC.....a young spitfire!!! I find that the younger doctors tend to be quicker at answers and more flexible with your input. Within 14 hours..I got bloodwork back. "You are insulin resistant" - My blood sugar was always high no matter what I ate. Insulin was being pumped into my system....all the time!

And what does insulin do? STORES carbs and sugars into FAT! If I had gave into my sugar or eating cravings all the time..I could be 400 lbs!!! Insulin resistance is a step before Type 2 diebetes!!!

I was on Metformin within 24 hours of my giving blood test.

Now what would happen if I stuck with the old Dr...not telling me anything for years???? I could've been on my way to Diebetes!!!!

When I think about this..I think goddam fucktard!!!!

So you can tell.....I'm very very very mad about that.

So It's good to go to other doctors. I find the ones that are connected to groups of doctors or an institute..get to function on a less "for profit/for pharmaceuticals!!!"

2 months now on metformin - down 10 lbs...average 1lb a week..the first time in 5 years..the scale has moved in the down direction.
