A new Hobby!

I'm looking for a hobby to take my focus off Fibro, pain, teenagers, housework etc.It has to be just for me,I can travel a short distance,it needs to be sitting down and shouldn't be anything fiddly as my hands don't work very well.can be in the day time or evening.Has anyone any ideas because I'm stumped?!

Crochet isn't anything like as fiddly as knitting; use double knitting wool and a 4.5 or 5 hook and granny square until you have blankets galore - there are teaching videos on youtube if you have not tried before. Wool is very cheap from some charity shops and poundstretcher type stores.

Keeps me out of mischief anyway!

I have a crochet hook that is 19mm Found it after starting with a knitting loom with weave extensions a tear back, then found extreme knitting. Take a look on Ideal world or Ebay. I also make cards and began painting (only 1 big messy sheep done yet). Good luck xx

Morning Amanda

Hobbies are difficult with our hands I have several on the go depending on the ability of my fingers. Can you paint I love daubing away with the Acrylycs I use them in preference to water color or oils because you can over paint if you want to change something and they dry in about 40 mins depending on thickness. I recently invested in a palette which absorbent paper inside to keep the paint from drying out it is brilliant.

I also sew make crafty things for the church to sell like Rag dolls. Mostly done on a sewing machine but hand finished.

I knit but cannot do it for very long at a time.

Flower arrange but not often these days.

My daughter tried me on beading but hands n not oblige

What ever you try enjoy xgins

Thanks everyone.I have everything for card making but can't cut out!! I think i will try crochet.I can knit very quickly with a good tension and I have crocheted (?) in the past and macrame, rug pulling embroidery & cross stitch.the latter was my favorite,I was quite good at it I'm always surprised at how neat it looked as I'm usually like a bull in a china shop! Alas now my hands wont co operate. So, crochet it is!! Um,think I'll have to re learn though as it was so long ago when I last tried.!!

My interest in knitting has recently revived and I am pleased to discover there are 2 or even 3 knit ;n stitch groups near by. One is in walking distance (and free) thus giving me useful exercise and new social contacts. I am looking forward to it and all will heip me with the wretched pain x.

To keep your mind active have you tried online poker can be played for free with tokens or if you are good at it real money it's not too taxing on the hands but keeps the brain working.

Ooh,I'll have to look into that one! x

I do on line jigsaws, crotchet, reading, and i love to bake bread but that is arms hands and wrist obliging. Other than the i don't know as i have bad tendonitis in my right hand.

I used to love playing resident evil on the x box or wii but completed them so need new game i think.

We bought a family gift a few weeks back - an Xbox kinect and it is fantastic better than the wii but it put my back out so gutted but hell its funny watching Paul and Phoebe do it so that is fun for me. When my fibro was in a sort of remission Paul and i would walk up the Preseli's with our dogs but for the last 18 months gone down hill fast.

Sorry gone on a bit lol

Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh....................this is the name of a group I attend and it is great fun, even when the fibro is bad it helps me get up and go, I just love waulking the tweed very therapeutic, gets rid of frustrations , I have made so many good friends who help me when needed. The one thing I have found out about fibro is it will constantly bring you down and there is only one way to go is up and of course beat the life out of tweed.

You will find the group on utube and you dont have to use Gaelic songs, old songs, folk songs or any kind just to keep the rhythm and it is great dressing up.

I "go" to watercolour painting classes. I say "go" because my hands give up very easily.

It gets me out and I enjoy the chat.

I'm shattered after but if I also get to finish a painting it's not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

regards,

sandra.
